I was about to say the same thing. From what the general beef is, Dynamite Rave and End Of The Century were removed due to some kind of copyright or whatnot with the rapper.
Since my point is that the fans invented the idea of copyrights to lyrics expiring, sure.We know from interviews with artists from the era, such as Thomas Howard and Paula Terry, that Konami paid them a one-time commission to record each song. The rights to their lyrics (if they wrote them) and the performance were assigned to Konami. That's normal for a commission. For example, Paula Terry isn't owed any royalties on the continued reuse of Memories. (Now she feels taken advantage of, in her own words, since her music has had such unexpectedly long legs and Bemani fans still occasionally ask her about it.) The decision to remake Memories into Rescue Me wasn't because the rights expired or anything. Either Naoki or Fracus (or both) just wanted to do it. Likewise, Dynamite Rave and Keep on Movin. Both were remade for DDR, but surprisingly the second is still in IIDX in its original form. (It's also in Infinitas!) Clearly someone on the IIDX team likes the original version, which proves that it's a mater of directors and not a matter of rights. And songs that we know are loved by the staff, like B4U, will live forever.
I can think of a few other special situations. For example good-cool was basically removed from DDR Supernova at the same time he transitioned over to the GF/DM series. Then he stopped contributing to IIDX shortly after. We know that was his preference, so I assume the song removals were too. good-cool never produced for DDR, and some of his DDR removals are still in IIDX. Makes sense if he wants to be known as a GF/DM artist.
So which is more likely:
1. That when commissioning the CS exclusive songs back in 2001, that Konami opted for terms that reverted the rights to the songs back to the artists after 15 years? (Just no.)
2. That it was just brought to Konami's attention that part of the song is plagiarized. (Very unlikely, but it has happened.)
3. Someone on the staff listened to the song for the first time in 10 years and said "this sucks kill it". (Happens all the time.) (Although it is funny that the song just appeared in DanEvo a few months ago, that may be why.)

Thought I'd point out that DDR Classroom Edition contains many songs that had been removed from the arcade games such as DYNAMITE RAVE, END OF THE CENTURY and the good-cool songs. Since Classroom Edition was released in 2012, long after those songs had already been removed from the AC games, I would think that would contradict the idea of there being a legal/copyright issue with the songs.

Actually, as far as I know, the original Keep on Movin' is still in DDR, and the remade one was only for the CS releases of DDR, much like Brilliant 2U and Celebrate Night.

Regarding the Pie-kun's post, the only explanation I can think of is that arcade versions have different standards than other versions. That may be why songs that were removed from the arcade found their way into later US versions e.g. Freckles appearing in SuperNOVA US PS2 but that might not be the case.

I'd say this tbh fam.
On another hand, we probably won't know unless we see the contracts regarding copyright issues with songs and lyrics. I don't know if there's some sort of clause that states, "We will use this song X many times in Y games on Z platform for N years and you will receive D amount of money for the usage" when negotiating these things.

On an unrelated note, can anyone make a zip/rar of the new OST for those who aren't in the Japanese iTunes store, like me?

Spoke to a musician today who's had their song removed and then revived in the past few years, and it was absolutely a decision made by the sound director, and not a matter of song or lyric rights. In this case, Konami had paid to own the song outright when it was commissioned, and didn't contact them to discuss the song being dropped, or the song being later renewed.

I would also like to point out those were developed by different divisions of Konami.
Maybe Konami Japan lost the rights and Konami USA still has it?
We dunno.

Konami of USA still having the rights to stuff Konami of Japan would also explain why DDR Universe 1 had SKY HIGH and Universe 2 had Spin the disc.
(yes i know those were konami of hawaii but that's still technically a part of konami of usa)

All this copyright bullhonk aside, I'm actually rather excited for this new version of Kind Lady. I loved the original version of the song (probably one of my favorite Sota tracks), and I'm on edge to see what this new version turns out like.
