| "Prepare for disappointment" | |
Last updated: 2025-09-18 06:06am
It's time for my tier list:
S:
-Healing Vision ~Angelic Mix~ (As close to perfection as you could get. Those freeze arrows when the audio channels shifted were PEAK! Also, thank God they added notes to the ending heartbeats.)
-Tomorrow Perfume (Been waiting for this song to get a
chart and I am not disappointed.)
-Gekkou Chou (The notes fit very well, but 16ths at that speed may be daunting for me. I'd love to recreate this in SuperNova.)
A:
-xenon (Wasn't expecting much from this that wasn't already in the
chart but those freeze arrows through me for a loop in a good way.)
-BREAK DOWN (Thankfully not an overcharted mess and still faithful to the
chart whilst remaining a bit of a challenge.)
-AFTER THE GAME OF LOVE (Notes fit very well, like we've seen with other slow songs with new
charts, but I wish the sax breakdown before the chorus got charted. That's my favorite part.)
-HYSTERIA (I've been saying they needed triplets in the chart and my prayers were answered. Wish there were more, but the chart flows better with them than the
chart.)
B:
-CANDY☆ (Not a bad chart, just wish they went with some freeze arrows and a little less 16ths. At least it can finally call itself a proper boss song.)
-BLUE IMPULSE ~for EXTREME~ (Felt a bit undercharted, but it's still a decent chart.)
C:
-e-motion (It's not bad, but I had to give the last place to someone. I was expecting much more from this, but the freeze arrows make it a quirky little chart. Plus, it's about time the ending was properly charted. I just hope I can recreate it in Edit Mode, though I probably can't.)
Honestly this was a really good Challenge chart event. It proves that not every song needs to be a 17 or 18 and it can still be a great, difficult chart.

This is easily the best chart pack so far.
As far as what the next pack should include, here's what I'd like to see:
AFRONOVA
MARS WAR 3
Your Angel
GRADIUSIC CYBER ~AMD G5 MIX~
B4U
SUPER STAR
Ticket To Bombay
GENOM SCREAMS
Shades of Grey
RED ZONE

Not surprised about your pick for RED ZONE. Sooooo many people back then were excited about that song's inclusion, but vastly disappointed with its charts.
My picks would be (as a start):
TEARS
L'amour et la liberte(DDR Ver.)
era (nostalmix)
MOBO MOGA
SP-TRIP MACHINE (JUNGLE MIX)
INSERTiON
LEADING CYBER
La Senorita Virtual
stoic (EXTREME version)
Do It Right

Mobo Moga and Do It Right would be really cool picks since they aren’t in the game anymore. It would mean two classic revivals, which would actually be a great use of these packs. I would tack Matsuri Japan and Drivin’ on there too.

I notice the songs chosen for the
packs had some status as ICONIC and popular classics, so i think all (mostly) of the Naoki songs will gain a
put honestly i want a classic revivals song packs withchallenge charts like MIdnite blaze, On the jazz, Spin the disc and Hypnotic crisis.

1. Candy* - Okay, sure, maybe it could have had more gimmicks, but it's a amazing stamina chart and an improvement over the X-Special (then again, what wouldn't be?), with some good placement of Afronovas and 16ths.
2. Break Down - Just a better version of the ESP with some 16th bursts in there, another one I'll go back to. Laughed at that one Butterfly Upswing CDP part at the end.
3. Tomorrow Perfume - While there were parts that felt toned down, it's a great chart. They didn't do swing timing, which does lead me to think these chart packs aren't going to take advantage of not being limited by the limits of the old Edit mode. (Outside of the Silent Hill shock arrow chart, I guess)
4. Blue Impulse - What a modern ESP for the chart would be, with a nice little call back to the original ESP.
5. Gekkou Chou - This song deserved a harder chart, and this one delivers.
6. After The Game of Love - Not a big fan of how that one part keeps changing what it is charting to. I get it's for variety, but it broke the flow for me even if it's not a flow break. Still decent, like that Baby Baby Give Me Your Love CSP.
7. Hysteria - Would have liked this better if they were more consistent with the triplets and 8th notes. Going to have to get used to that patterning, too. It's an improvement over the ESP, though the ESP is still a classic to me.
8. Healing Vision ~Angelic Mix~ - Expected this to be the meme chart of the pack, got a souped up version of the ESP with doublesteps galore. Was kind of hoping for a Luv Mix CSP like chart, but that didn't seem to happen here.
9. e-motion - Admittedly, this is a very, very hard song to make a good chart to. Was expecting more gallops.
10. Xenon - Found this chart to be a total mess, to be honest. I can give it points for creativity; I'd imagine a lot of people would just turn the main synth part into a 16th stream since that's how it's charted in IIDX. I will say, still better than the worse charts of the previous song packs, and I might change my mind if I get into good scores on 16s and figure out how to do those spins and that one meme freeze section.
And yes, I would love a pack that brings back Mobo Moga, Midnite Blaze, Hypnotic Crisis, maybe even original Let The Beat Hit Em. Hey, I liked that song!

TIL that "murmur twins" is not just in DDR, but also in Dance Rush Stardom. It's fun to step along to that song! If only these games were much easier to access outside of Asia…
The guitar version of "murmur twins" is a nice touch. I'm unfamiliar with the three other songs. As far as making an event out of them, I find that DDR W has lots of events for unlockables, with or without a fee. It's hard to keep up with all the unlocking criteria!
I'd like to try DDR W one day, but I still think that I'll prefer most of the older mixes. I'm happier with the interface and the wider availability of DDR A to A20+ compared to DDR W. That said, I know that some players prefer W's flat and simple design. I think that the game should offer two interfaces, W-style and A-style, as an option for every player.
During this past summer, there were good news about a few indie arcades worldwide buying Bemani games, like DDR World and Dance Rush Stardom. These are expected to arrive in 2026. It would be nice to see these games succeed and gain a wider audience!

Surely this was done because the new CEO of Konami Games Division, Yoshitaka, allowed it to happen.
Come on, Yoshitaka, get rid of the "Bemani Sound Team" nonsense while you're CEO
And bring back Club Mix/good-cool songs.

I have never been able to get a straight answer on this. Why was this even something introduced and not affect all previous songs in the any of the series before this went into effect? I thought it was something to do with Japanese law but that sounds wrong as it isn't present in every other rhythm game by other companies?

I think a LOT of us are still confused about the whole "Bemani Sound Team" thing. I read on RemyWiki about this and it's still a bit unclear....I think I kinda get the purpose. But I agree, I'd like for them to retire this artist label as well.
A better compromise to implement this may be like they did 25th Anniversary Song Creator songs like Dance wiz the Rhythm. They added a 25th Anniversary logo to its jacket; so just put a "Bemani Sound Team" logo or something on song jackets they wanna label "Bemani Sound Team". This would be similar to how they would put a lil Dancemania, pop'n music, Guitarmania, beatmania, etc. spinning logos on older DDR song banners. But, instead of a lil spinning icon, it would be a permanent logo added to the jackets.

After giving it some thought, yeeeaaaahhhh there's not a single bad contest song in this game.
My personal top 5:
1. Ødyssey // Kaname
2. Collaspe of the Sanctuary // 打打だいず vs. siromaru
3. The 88's Instigation // MYUKKE.
4. No More Love // EmoCosine
5. Funky Flux Fusion // yuichi NAGAO

So story time! The big thing I heard as to why Bemani Sound Team came to be, was that sometime before IIDX Cannon Ballers release back in 2017, there was some kind of revolt internally where artists wanted to reclaim the rights to their music completely, as when they produce music for Bemani, Konami holds the rights to their music per a contract, and Konami were not having it and were understandably upset with this turn of events, and as punishment for violating this contract, Konami introduced Bemani Sound Team and was gonna hide their names behind this, and not even divulge in-game who the artists were, going uncredited in game visually and to the players as well. This was also listed somewhere during the location test of Cannon ballers and all original songs just said Bemani Sound Team for the artists names and nothing else. Konami faced some backlash due to this from players, and sometime shortly before Cannon Ballers release, they decided to change this and still credit the artists, but put Bemani Sound Team before their names and aliases in the song wheel for all original music going forward. So yeah this is the story I was told or read about as to why Bemani Sound Team is a thing now.
