I honestly wholeheartedly agree. Is that not what some earlier summer contest themes were about, limiting the songs that one can choose? Stuff like Soft Landing can be applied to almost every song without much effort, essentially it was almost a free week

Hard disagree here. Soft Landing is anything but a free week for me. I appreciate it as a theme because it forced me to step [no pun intended] out of my comfort zone and do weird shit, but it's not a free week.
I believe we need two types of themes:
1. The kind that forces you to be selective with your song choice (this week's theme falls here, as well as previous popular themes like YWSTIDDR, etc)
2. The kind that forces you to try new things with your simfiles (Soft Landing falls here, as well as MAX 300 week, that gimmick week from like 2 years ago, etc)
I think we need a good blend of these two types of themes to have a good or interesting contest.

I signed up hoping this contest would give me an incentive to break my hiatus and join but it's not only failed to do that, but it's failed in a lot of other aspects too and I'm done with it. It's completely missing what made previous Summer Contests fun.

Perhaps it will be. I suppose this year hasn't been the greatest for the Summer Contest, but the themes weren't the biggest issue, at least for me.

BIG loophole! Does the name have to start with the word "the" or can it be a word that begins with the letters "the"? like "Then"? The post doesn't specify or clarify this.

Also I asked this elsewhere, but how about songs that begin with the word "the" but in other languages? Such as: le, la, el, los, il, das, die, der, de, and so on and so forth.

That's what I'm saying. I like the themes this year. I just meant it's not a free week. It's one of the two types of themes that I see as beneficial for a simfile contest.

Maybe if the people running this contest put as much energy into making the contest fun and exciting as they do making up conspiracies about 'voting manipulation', people wouldn't be complaining literally every week about the way the contest is run.
