I really hope they fully emulate 2nd MIX, right down to its old quirks like 1x and 30fps. Nostalgia bomb! Big Grin

New-school playas gonna have ta LEARN tha old-school. Cool

I highly doubt Konami would emulate such an old game, I predict a higher-res inferface @ 60FPS.

I wonder if they struck up another deal with EMI? Because re-licensing 2ndMIX, in addition to new licenses for X3, seems pretty intense. But then again, Dancemania is so old those licenses are probably really cheap these days anyway.
By the way, there's a new Dancemania album coming out in August, as a 15th anniversary celebration.
Of course, it's a "best-of" and includes many of the songs from 2ndMIX, so I wonder if there's going to be any promotion between the 2.

According to Babelfish:

" It is DDRX3 vs DDR 2ndMIX which, is the next work of the arcade, but in this 2ndMIX about it cannot make word, suitable memory is in me. LET THEM MOVE (wry smile) at that time, [rimeiku] we would like to do that it is not possible in these times…With this time of today when you think secretly. "

So the most legible part of this is that LET THEM MOVE won't be in the game Sad.

Well, that's certainly a case for not using online translators Tongue

Does this mean that they might remake some of the 2nd mix charts? That would make my day :3

er uhm I think all Naoki is saying is that 2nd Mix brings back memories. When he's wanting to remake some of his first songs, he's reminded of where he started with songs such as "LET THEM MOVE".

At any rate, I'm not all that excited about 2nd mix being included. It would be like saying "we've included SMB2 in Mario Galaxy 3!" Er ok, great, we get to play it again, after first playing it many years ago. If they did an upgrade though, new charts, eAmuse system, etc, it would be worth it. And when you guys think about it, 2nd mix only has about 10 songs that's not in X/2/3 already.

They've already remade Keep On Movin, Brilliant 2U and Celebrate Nite in recent years. I'm not sure there are any more 2nd era songs worth remaking?

Try 2 Luv U (SF Electro House Mix) is as close to being a Let Them Move remix as I really need in my life :{

There are some songs/remixes from 2nd mix era (not necessarily in 2nd mix though) that are totally forgotten. e.g. Hypnotic Crisis, Night In Motion, Vol 4, Make It Better (so real mix).

I wouldn't mind some older Dancemania / KOs being revived, but I don't think it's wise to have a 2nd mix gimmick itself for a few reasons.

Not so many people have actually played 2nd mix in their lives. I've been an avid DDR player since 2003, maybe 2004, and the closest arcade version I've set foot on to a 2nd mix was a modified ITG2 machine in California that was changed to a DDR USA machine. Other than that, it was probably DDR Extreme. The nostalgia factor doesn't work for everyone.

It's probably a bigger deal for people who played during that timeframe. It's hard to be nostalgic for the game itself, because on paper, it wasn't really that good.

Things I fondly remember from playing DDR during 2nd Mix :

Lots and lots of spins! By the time 2nd Mix came around, most players could pass every song on Basic and Another, so most of them focused on being able to pass the same songs while looking as flashy as possible. It seems almost impossible to play Butterfly or Last Thing On My Mind without doing all the little spins that everyone copied from each other. If you could play Paranoia on Maniac, and do all of the spins, they you were an undisputed grand master of DDR.

Pump It Up had been out for a while, but Freestyle was just starting to cross over to DDR. A lot of players saw the songlist as being divided up into "Freestyle songs" and "Technical songs". The big freestyle songs were Butterly (On trick!), Stomp To My Beat and Brilliant 2U Orchestral Groove. If you had access to it, the holy grail of freestyle was Theme From Flo-Jack.

The big 'Technical Songs' were Uh La La La, El Ritmo Tropical and Get Up N Move. The Boss Song was either Get Up N Move or Uh La La La, depending on which region you were in.

The most popular song overall was always 'If You Were Here With Me', because it was popular with both the freestyle and technical purists. Boom Boom Dollar was a close second for the same reason, and Butterly was a distant third.

-

I have no clue how they can play up the nostalgia factor, short of remixing most of the old songs. The only real thing I can imagine setting of the nostalgia bomb is to give us KO remixes along the lines of If You Were Here With Me,, and possibly also throw in new licensed songs from the 2nd Mix artists.

New songs from JS16, S&K, Mark Farina and M-Flo would definately get me excited to relive 1999, but short of that, they've already revived all of the big 2nd Mix songs in DDRX and DDR X2. I really can't see what else they can do.
