Okay, I was thinking of some songs I'd personally love to have them give good charts to and something just dawned on me. This may all be coincidental, so forgive me for putting my tinfoil hat on just a wee bit as I run this down.

I just noticed that a lot of these new charts are NAOKI tracks. No, not all, but most -- 12 to be exact (unless I'm missing a few). Not only are most of them by Naoki, but most come from what is reportedly his favorite DDR, 4thMIX. Also, he was making some appearance at San Japan this weekend.

Has anyone else picked up on this? It could be nothing (probably is), and it may just be an ode and nod to his legacy and what he brought to the game for 10 years as its music director and biggest KO contributor. But it's kinda interesting as I thought about it. Again, tinfoil hat thingy I'm thinking, or maybe just wishful thinking he may be considering a slight return, or Konami trying to woo him back, or something.... But it's a coincidence, nonetheless....

Same Dogman.....same.... My guess, incoming 17 on the horizon, and I just don't know 'bout dat.... If they up it to an 18, that would be criminal activity.

Even so, another decent batch of coming. Only maybe 5 of these I'm really looking forward to. Konami is ever so slightly occasionally reading my mind of songs to choose.

Oh, right, e-motion is still in the game.

月光蝶 seems like it could get the "GFDM" homage chart (aka unfitting stepjumps)
I think everything else will be fine, HVAM would maybe end up like exotic ethnic in that the CSP is a merely spiced up version of the ESP

That’s exactly what I pictured when I saw HVAM on the list. I’m all for catering to everyone but I’m hoping for some sanity here and just some solid 12-16 level charts this go around because I don’t see a good way to get more out of most of these.

That's a great songlist and I'm also hoping for nothing above 16. Gekkou Chou could go above 16 without anything dumb since it's so fast, but yeah, ironically I hope they don't give it the SuperNOVA treatment like they've been doing.

CANDY☆ maybe harder than the x-special. maybe 14 could be fit but something tells me is gonna be a bit overcharted
e-motion maybe the shock arrow 13 - 14 of the pack
Healing Vision ~Angelic mix~ holly... over 16 for sure but i didn't mind if is a classic boss song the one who gets over the top
HYSTERIA 15 maybe with more jumps than the expert
Tomorrow Perfume honestly idk, maybe 13
xenon 15, is a really cool song but also really short so is hard to thell
蒼い衝動 ~for EXTREME~ im happy with at least a fun 13
月光蝶 maybe will be the 2nd most difficult of the pack, maybe a 15 or 16, even 17 if they go with a gf tribute on the charts. i didn't mind that if it was the original audio and not the supernova cut.

Honestly, I kinda wonder if that's how most of us feel when it comes to making a good chart for songs like HVAM. Spice it up, but don't overdo it to the point of making it.......insane just for the heck of it (looking at you PARANOIA EVOLUTION, and Blind Justice).
Just spice it up in ways that keeps the steps fun, or even more fun, like exotic ethnic or 321 STARS.

I hope Hysteria will incorporate triplets. Been wanting a chart for Tomorrow Perfume for a while. I'm expecting great things from e-motion and Gekkou Chou, too, but I won't get my hopes up too soon.

Well ain't this a surprise. Not one 17 or 18 in the bunch, and looks like it probably will be a spiced up HVAM as a 16. Now we wait to see what they actually did to 'em.

Chart reviews:
Blue Impulse: I've always wanted Konami to properly re-rate the ESP to a 10 & use the official IIDX audio + new chart, but that's a pipe-dream. Well, at least we got an official CSP & it's well charted albeit would've loved some more 16ths going to the instrumentals

Gekkou chou: Surprisingly fun, besides brief TL00-tier stepjumps in the middle that last one second

BREAK DOWN: Only complaint is the gallops, even I wouldn't use complementary rhythms like that but goo char

AFTER THE GAME OF LOVE: About what I expected in a good way, wish they charted a bit more of that sax portion in a more spicier way but understand why they didn't

Tomorrow Perfume: Same issue as think ya better D, should've had swings! good chart still

HVAM: Best chart of the update imo, super fulfilling

xenon: the freezes were jarring at first but I can see it being iconic in the same vein as Splash Gold & Wadatsumi's patterns tbh

e-motion: very tasteful 12, does the song justice & I disagree that it's not spicy enough! i think the song didn't need a super exciting chart, just one that properly charted the rhythms in a fun way & this chart does exactly that

HYSTERIA: this chart MOSTLY scratches the itch I had with the original charts.,.,., except that the rap is still in 8ths UGH

CANDY: only real dud of this pack & even then, it's mostly straightforward; the overstepped nature really drags it down but it's not offensive in any way pattern-wise thankfully

catch-up thoughts on previous packs: better than the last pack (TL100 rlly brought it down lol, but Music in the Rhythm being understepped & LOVE SHINE's equally unfitting gallops also contributed to my feelings lol)

the pack with DROP OUT was mostly good too but AM-3P's chart does not hold up as well as them UM4 chart & i'm still mixed on DROP OUT tbh, plus MAKE IT BETTER would've been better without the doublesteps

the pack with LOVE THIS FEELING is probably the worst out of the CSP refreshes, mostly bc LTF & Orion were misses for me

The ratings look perfect. I hope the charts are quality.

Edit: I’ve only watched Xenon and HVAM so far. Pretty much exactly the rhythms I was expecting. Xenon’s patterns are fucking evil. That middle freeze section is bullshit with the current note skins. HVAM doesn’t look fun to play but maybe it will be when I actually get to try it. That one isn’t bad, just not the placement I pictured.

Edit: Break Down and Hysteria are really good. I can’t find the lowers, I’m guessing Yusin just hasn’t uploaded them yet. But 16+ just really isn’t my bag anyway, I might be a tad harsh on those. If the lowers are as good as Break Down and Hysteria then the pack is an overall win.

xenon's chart must be pretty hell to sightread. I like that they charted both e-motion and Healing Vision all the way up to the ending of both songs

Unrelated to the new charts but the new goop backgrounds are so horrible, I wonder why they didn't go with something more pleasing to the eye
