I think the occurrence of the Immunity square is set as rare, as FoRCeDNaTuRe suggests. Things would get rather silly if it showed up every two rounds or so.

And yes, I was around for the dreaded Square 19 joke. What a time that was. /s

Well, either way it's basically a free defuse. Good if you have a mini-game we've never seen before.
Also, unrelated to the immunity power-up discussion, but I personally am worrying about that new square that we should clear "sooner than later".

Each square has an equal opportunity of appearance. Each round has one event square selected at random from the 27 in the game, and after the 15 mandatory squares, there's 10 selected from the entire list at random, which means each of those have a 1-in-131 chance of selection.

There's about an 11% chance of one appearing, assuming one of you doesn't eliminate the square through dumping a bomb on it, but there's a 11% chance of any event square, including the bad ones. It's OP, but everyone has an equal chance of getting the OP, so it's fair enough. Adding on weighted probabilities would make the game much more complex to set up and frankly I'm not being paid enough for this
