So much this. Also, i prefer a game with an ok interface but with a lot of updates and original songs (also really good songs btw) like DDRA and DDRA20, instead of something like DDR2014 or DDR X ... Specially DDR2014, with the most forgettable update schedule ever (like 1 song each month ... And it was a Hinabitter song)

ok but to be fair Ace had similar update schedules and content to 2014's but ig the latter half of 2018 made up for that
regardless let's talk about the artist lineup and how it's miles better than the initial lineup in Ace

I'll admit to being confused and somewhat irritated at DDR Ace's new menu, gameplay, etc. when that came out three years ago, but all of it grew on me pretty quickly. While I'm not entirely a fan of all the gold on A20 (it's a bit blinding to me), I do believe I'll get used to it and will enjoy it just the same eventually.

As for the songlist and the stepcharts so far, I'm thoroughly impressed.

Yeah, game is perfect, any criticism is just "complaining for the sake of complaining" obviously

Took a day to soak everything in, and here are my thoughts that absolutely no one asked for:

All of the new songs are bangers. Every single one. This gives me hope for the music direction of this game.

We already have a thread for re-rates , so I won't dwell too much on them, but I agree with all of them. Including Rising Fire Hawk. Eat my shorts.

Some of y'all have never actually experienced a DDR launch post- eAmuse, and it shows. We're gonna get more songs released in batches of 2-4 every couple of weeks until the US launch where we'll get our handful of Top 40 licences (Despacito 20 lololol).

I have no complaints about the UI and I think the current social media dumpster fire surrounding it is beyond silly.

Edit: At 6'4" I am perfectly okay with never playing on a gold cab. I'm not liking what I'm reading from taller DDR players who have experienced it. I already have to look halfway down the screen to read comfortably on white cabs.

New DDR game celebrating the past 20 years of the series comes out with only 10 new songs and a reskinned UI, people are "complaining just to complain".
New IIDX game casually comes out with an entire soundtrack's worth of new material and a brand new UI, people are quiet.
Don't act surprised that people are kinda bent right now. We have every reason to be upset that we got all this hype for basically a DLC pack of content.

Alright let's break this down.
9 new songs plus an extra stage. 10 songs
The 50th anniversary song, plus the exclusive license that came out hours after launch. 12 songs
Have you never been mellow, 5 hinabita songs. 18 songs by next week. The songlist will essentially double over the course of a week. The number of songs that ace had after it launched in America was only in the mid-20s, and that includes the American licenses.

Of the songs currently out, most people have agreed that they are very high quality. On release, we have 3 13s, 2 14s, 2 15s, a 16, and a 17. That's harder content than any other mix had on release.


You guys are literally looking for anything to complain about and it would be cool if you just... didn't. Stop hating everything just because it's not DDR EXTREME. And don't try to take that statement out of context.

Being honest at least DDR is actually celebrating their 20th anniversary with more than just A20 itself whereas IIDX got a new game with tons of songs but alot of them were met with tepid reactions (namely U.S.A), and the only indication of celebrating IIDX's anniversary is ARC SCORE and some other event or CD that's coming up
you best be comparing A20 to pnp peace or jubeat festo instead but those were on a lesser scale even then tbh
but yes DDR A20 could probably be grander with few more songs and some interface upgrades too

I'm not trying to shut down constructive criticism. The UI is kinda gaudy, I'm not a big fan. Europe not getting new content is stupid as fuck.

But what it comes down to is that a lot of people here are just complaining about super trivial things. It's like when Prey came out, and instead of being excited for a new 18, a large group of people started whining that it wasn't a 19. Or how every time a batch of songs on the easier side come out, people act like Konami committed treason. Most of these people are the same ones that have been calling DDR dead since 2001. Like please, chill.

I'm game. This has been the most successful default list of any DDR since 2013. Digging that they've brought on 7 different artists to make their first DDR originals, and while I haven't heard any line-outs, they sound pretty great. We're basically a shoe-in for something new from TAG and Sota as well, and the return of Shoichiro Hirata to BEMANI is a cause for celebration all around.

Anyway, as someone who probably won't get a chance to play it soon, I dig it and look forward to what's to come!

I'm honestly more worried about if we're gonna miss out on certain songs like we did with the last quarter of DDR A's lifespan... and if any of R1's USA locations are still gonna get gold cabs (I'm still gonna bet only the newer/bigger locations will get it while places like Moreno Valley will get shafted... >> )

My nearest Round 1 just got a second white cab, so definitely no gold coming my way.
