The real problem is that Betson asked the wrong people to test the stage
If Betson isn't going to arcades and looking for people who are playing hour-long sets then they are definitely asking the wrong people to test the machines.

bracket and/or bar-rape.
No, they really don't need to specifically test to make sure game-breaking play styles still work. Make putting your foot and weight square on each panel as you play work as it always had worked and then call it a day.

From what arcade operators have told me, it's very specifically caused by players stamping on the panels, and catching either the metal edge flush with the edge of the panel, or the now-flat "bracket" that exists between the panels?
The panels themselves are designed to take all the force of a 13-stone player. The brackets are not.
They asked very good players, they just all happened to have a very soft playstyle. I'm guessing they didn't see anyone playing in a way that put unexpected stress on the stage, or they would have noted it.

Probably worth mentioning that if i play in my socks on my tiptoes holding the bar (I.e. my minimum weight method) the DDR X that was in Troc was actually playable for about a song, second or third stage id usually fail out due to the pads getting worse, but if i played in my shoes barless and just stepped normally (I.e. no EXTRA forced weight just natural weight) the panels just go "Sod it i cant be bothered to unjam myself this time" and stays on. Whatever needs to be done about it generally raising the pad from the sensor or seperating the two slightly more would be a good start, it'd create new problems but they wouldnt be anywhere near as bad as they are now.

..I don't think there's a DDRX2 anywhere in the Shanghai / Jiangsu Province area. All I can find is that there's supposed to be a DDRX near Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.
I'm going to find out if that DDRX is actually there tomorrow... kinda disappointed there isn't a single Konami game in Suzhou.

I hope Round1 gets rid of our machine too. Then hopefully they'll just import a japanese dedicab. Unlocks don't matter when the game isn't even playable, and since the scores were wiped 2 weeks ago, no one should have any attachment to the machine.

The thing is now that all the unlocks are out in japan if they imported a cab, it'd be pre unlocked and good to go so really thats probably the best way out for everyone

a bit off topic: Does this apply to beatmaniaIIDX machines too? Like, if it's already beat#free and it got exported out from Japan, will be still beat#free without e-amuse?

I think this is trend for all Bemani games now and in the future.
While I was in Japan there was an eAmusement outage and I -thought- I heard reports that all X2 machines reverted back to the default songlist for the duration (I never got to go and check before eAmuse came back online). If that's the case, unlocks are completely dependent on an active eAmuse link. And I'm certain that's the way Konami wants it. Either way, eAmuse seems to now act as a gatekeeper of certain content (at least for the Japanese machines).
More than that, I'm convinced that the last song unlock on X2 (Which was downloaded via eAmuse) is how they'll proceed with all unlocks from now on. Completely crippling any unauthorized exports of the game in terms of unlocks.
I wouldn't complain about this tactic except that the series almost no longer exists outside of Asia.

And what happens when the game is no longer supported by E-Amuse? Arcades are going to get very annoyed if they lose ALL the content they had when they had E-Amuse enabled and then are forced to lose it all or buy the next mix.
Also regarding IIDX, im pretty sure when it was beat free it stayed even when e-amuse was disabled on older mixes, going from what ive read on other websites.
If Konami have changed it so the unlocks wont stay, then its only just happened as of X2 because there are DDR X imports in the country with all songs unlocked already.

From a programming stand point, this would be completely stupid. First: if they intend for international games to have button code unlocks, then having one version require downloaded content and the international versions getting just codes is a major headache. They're basically programming two different systems. Programming time = higher cost. Having e-Amuse simply set flags is much easier method to use.
Konami used the download content in SuperNOVA for one song and this did not become the trend. They used it again for one song in X2 and I believe it will not become the trend.
