This week's theme is Long Version Week! Anything goes as long as it is between 2m 30s and 5m 0s long. So that'll be the week to submit that file you couldn't quite cut down far enough, or the license you wanted the full version of This includes Bemani music, DDR licenses, and other rhythm game music. As long as it fits the time limit, it's OK.

Since Pandy didn't PM me next week's theme in time, I'm taking the liberty of choosing it myself!
Next week's theme will be 90's Week. Any song from the 90's, whether boy band, hip-hop, classic dance standards, or grunge rock, is permissible - within these two restrictions:
1. It cannot be a license from any Bemani game. 80's Week also functioned under this rule, and it's only fair.
2. It must be under 2m 30s long, or cut to under 2m 30s. Long Version Week is NOW, not then.

Review time already, you say? How can this be?!

Dragon Fight! (from Blue Dragon)
S-: That's a lot of air for a triplet-driven song. I think it's a bit complicated overall for the music to support, even though it was fun to play.
S-: Interesting, but a bit strange. I was hoping you'd play up the gallops a bit, but I like what you've done to the place.

Fortress Europe
S-: You're suffering from foot placement drift (very slow spinning effect). That's really the only bad thing I can say about this chart. Listen to that beginning one more time - the rhythm with the 16th notes you chose isn't quite on.
S-: OK. A few awkward doublesteps, kind of bland as far as rhythm selection goes, but not a bad 6-footer all round.

Kimosabe
BT <3
S-: Hm. I think you had the right idea in the beginning, but began to disregard the rhythm in later sections a lot. Which made me sad. Also, lotsa doublesteps.
S-: Again, a lot of doublesteps. I wondered if you had made this chart to be a bit breakish, but I couldn't make that work either.

Linda's Castle
S-: I've gotta say, I actually like this chart. In an ITG way. Probably more a borderline 10, because those simple streams are at 144 BPM 16ths (marginally slower than PSMO, which has more complex patterns) but it's OK. I think I'd use it as a warmup more than a song to play for fun, though.
S-: Copypasta from S-Oni, but I see you fixed a few things for good flow. And this chart is quite decent indeed.

Nitro Mantra
Never heard this track before...I like it. Musically. A LOT. And I usually can't stand sampling masters AYA, so that's saying something.
S-: wow. Even without any crossovers - oh, haha, there's a couple down at the end - this chart was super fun and interesting. Great rhythmic sense does it, I think.
S-: Great companion chart to the S-, with the same excellent sense of rhythm. Still could use some crossovers, or maybe even a quarter-note spin or two

Rusty Ruin Zone Act 2
I like that this one fades out
S-: Um. It's really an 11 in my opinion (in the same sense that We Met Dat Night is an 11). The streams are simply too much, in any case.
S-: I like this much better. Still some strange use of music in your pattern choice, but overall, much more reasonable density. Work on erasing that top-right bias and getting better flow, and you'll be much better off. Also, I'm not even sure this time if it's a copypasta, so I won't hate.

Saneshi Tatakai no Shi
Kanako Itou <3
S-: Excellent patterns and rhythms. I think in some places there's a lot going on for an eight-footer, but in this case I don't know for sure without trying it on pad, so I'll let it be. Would have liked to see a little variation in the chorus.
S-: Mostly a 5', except for some of those blue-note patterns. Again, very nice work with rhythms, and a good proportion of air.

Satan's Theme (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine)
S-: Urgh, those streams were pretty annoying. Doable for a 10, but not very fun. Also a couple doublesteps really hurt here. The distribution of intensity was good, though.
S-: Eight-footer patterns in the first 2/3 + ten-footer stream in the last 1/3 =/= a sensible nine-footer chart.

Super Mario Bros. 2 Overworld
S-: I really like the patterns in this sim, and how well they go with the music. Aside from a few doublesteps, it's pretty amazing.
S-: Not as good as the heavy chart, but still OK. I feel like it should be a 7' with those MATSURI JAPAN gallopy things.

I may have something cooked up for 90s week. That seems right up my alley.

Sweet. I've got quite a few options to weigh in that case!

Question: For 90s week, is it acceptable for a song to be approx 2:35 in length? If not, I may have to do the unthinkable and alter the actual song's tempo.

On one hand it's only neglectfully longer than the limit, but I know this also makes it technically a "Long Version".

Meh, never mind I'll just change the tempo...

Uhh... doublesteps? Are you sure you remember my charts correctly? Cause I tried to avoid them. No, I'm sure there are some, but nowhere near as many as you're implying.

There's nowhere as many as it probably sounds like, but we're talking one every four measures or so in Kimosabe, which is pretty confusing. Fortress Europe is better, but possibly even more confusing because the foot leading fools you longer.
