Why start this subject every time?
There are four to five difficulties.
You can enjoy the ones below if it's too hard for your current skill, but more experienced player won't find long time enjoyment in chart that they can AAA FC on the first try.

My question is why people keep complaining about undercharting every single time a new song comes out.


I doubt most of them will be able to get an MFC on the first try, though (even on lower difficulties). That's where the replay-ability is now.

I swear, I actually haven't seen anyone complain that the chart needs to be harder. It's weird, because I've only seen people complaining about other people complaining.

There are people in this very thread felt disappointed when a chart is only an ESP14 when they thought they can come up with a 15 or 16 even a year ago (Bitter Chocolate Striker and Umeyukiyo is probably the most vivid case I can think of). I think that counts as complaining the chart needs to be harder.

It's actually an opinion of only one or two user so that I'm not too bothered about it TBH.

Sorry, I say that because I used to be part of certain groups where such comments were much more prevalent. I admit it is possible that things may have died down more recently, but I have no idea since I have been trying to tune myself away from such comments as well (or anything negative in general).

You can enjoy the other ons if it’s too easy for your current skill, but most DDR players won’t find long time enjoyment in charts that they can’t even follow.

If you don’t like Konami’s charts there’s someone out there making an ITG 12+ rating version of it. Play that. It’s okay for a song to be a 14. It’s also okay for a song to be a 17. There are a lot of things Konami is doing wrong but not catering to one group isn’t it. The game needs variety.

Well speaking about the new song of U1, it looks really fun and it's beautiful that they decided to send that song to the DDR, without a doubt it's my favorite of U1

You think someone who isn’t an “expert” is going to hop on and pass it? What’s your take on expert charts rated at like an 8? Some are even lower than that. Should those songs have harder charts whether they match the music or not? Or should they just be removed entirely because the song doesn’t support the kind of chart you think suits the “expert” difficulty?

Dude, my take is that I'm fucking sick of seeing people act super sensitive about players wanting hard content. That's genuinely it. Expert charts being rated an 8 doesn't vibe with me but I'm not gonna vomit at the thought of it. The 8 being bumped down to Basic or Difficult wouldn't hurt anybody and it would actively give room to please other players. There's five difficulty slots, I'd hoped by year 24 of these games being made that the people who write charts would know how to use them.

When I saw the tweet, I thought it was a new license, until I zoomed in and realized "Hey, it's the DanEvo boys!" I'm surprised I remembered it was from CANNON BALLERS since my IIDX knowledge is hyper spotty. Should be a fun track for DDR.

P.S. Literally 5 minutes before seeing Quickman's post, I was reminded of an old game magazine ad for Rumble Roses. Surprising to me that it came to mind, then I see someone mentioning it.

The idea that So In Love's expert chart should be it's basic chart so it can have some incredibly stupid chart with 16ths that go to nothing is fucking baffling to me, I'm not going to lie to you. Yes, there are 5 difficulties. Why isn't the complaint ever that a song doesn't have a challenge chart? It's absolutely moronic to complain that a god damn 14 is just too easy of a chart for expert. There is a difficulty above it (below it? depends on your perspective I guess) that a harder chart could go on. You want the game have room for more people, that's how you do it. Take songs like The History of the Future and move the expert chart to challenge, move the difficult chart to expert, and so on, until you have a blank spot on beginner or basic and make a more accessible chart for the song. Then it can range from like 2-17 instead of 5-17. Now the game is becoming more accessible. This Is My Last Resort doesn't need like a level 16 expert chart when it doesn't have a challenge chart. No one is saying not to ask for challenge charts, people are scoffing at the idea that a 14 is too easy to be an expert chart.

I could pull a better chart for So In Love out of my ass, but I digress. I would absolutely be okay with all songs having Challenge charts in the future, I think I suggested that in some thread years ago. If it meant some uniformity, I'd be all for it. As RGTM said, I've yet to see anyone actually complain about This Is My Last Resort only having a 14, but I've seen plenty of complaining about the complaining. I think it's a pretty decent chart but I'm just losing my mind at the people acting like I'm insane whenever I say "hey, this is undercharted."

I literally quoted the person complaining about This Is My Last Resort only being a 14 from the last page on this page, it was the post that started the whole discussion. But I think challenge is really the only place to complain that a song is undercharted. If a song doesn't have a challenge chart and could clearly support something harder than the expert chart then the complaint should be that there is no challenge chart. I get that "it's called expert" but it's also been called maniac, SSR, and heavy over the years. What people should be looking for are challenge charts, and it does seem like we at least agree that all songs should have challenge charts. Even if it's just like a 10 or something, depending on the difficulty of the expert chart and the song itself.
