Here's a video of the game start up

Oh silly me. I forgot that Twitter exists lol. Laughing Hard So I was right about the background music in the livestream being the game's actual BGM. Thanks, Pie! Smile

Hopefully it won't be long until we see footage of Nonstop/Class modes; I'm curious how you access them; is it in the song menu a la Dancing Stage EuroMix 2? >>

A bit disappointed that it's just DDR A with gold plating, but the new cab design is pretty nice. Finally some large wide screens to match what Pump has had for over a decade now.

I saw a tweet saying that while all the Japanese players were expressing excitement over all the new features and unlocks the game brought, US/Western players were (mostly) complaining. I think it really speaks to cultural values, we’re never satisfied xD

I think that says the white cab is being replaced by a gold cab.

"five minute white boy challenge"
They did NOT put the guy from Yie-ar Kung Fu in a DDR jacket. No. This can't be happening, science CANNOT DO THIS.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

....or, you could consider that Western players have pretty much always gotten the short end of the stick, or nothing at all, when it comes to DDR, so "complaints" are kinda justified.

Also you can't generalize about "the west" based on a handful of random opinions you read on the internet.

I mean, yes some of us complain too much, but obviously Japan has less room to complain since they actually get all the songs and features, for the most part.

I’m just glad that DDR is still going. I’m thankful that one of my favorite games is still kicking. I am hyped to see more of what this mix has to bring. I didn’t expect a new interface since the title implied that it is a continuation of DDRA. The music so far sounds great. My gripes are that I’m not sure I’ll ever get to actually play this mix or music outside of stepmania.

it's almost like how Konami is an Japanese company that primarily focuses on the Japanese market and thus whatever they do doesn't appeal to us as much and that were an secondary market to them wow

The west is traditionally given the short end of the straw by Konami, especially in terms of rhythm games. Consider for example that DDR EXTREME AC was never released in the west. It took forever to get quality cabs for DDR X and content for future mixes thereafter were always lagging behind whatever the East received, especially in the past 5 years where new content is consistently limited to the east and never comes overseas. This applies to IIDX, SDVX, pop'n, really any BEMANI music game you can think of.

If it seems like the west complains a lot about rhythm games, it's because they have earned the right to over the course of 20 years.

again Konami never really wanted to appeal to Western players since they only released two DDR games in the US arcades (AND especially given that Konami didn't even have confidence in DDR before it was first released) until the DDR boom in the west started from illegal imports and given that there was an fit movement in the 00s, DDR was promoted as an exergame and that appealed to Americans as well
we had several attempts at getting some bemani franchises over here like beatmania, GITADORA and pop'n but they didn't take off the way DDR did because of the culture at the time

oh my god the game is fine

Did they ever say when courses would be available or is it just a waiting game?

Don't believe so. I imagine they're waiting for the upgrade rollout to hit the existing cabinets before enabling additional functionality.

Basically this. There's complaining because we get the short end of the stick, and then there's complaining just for the sake of complaining. Is everyone gonna like the new UI? Definitely not. But since Ace came out, things have been a lot more equal between regions in terms of content, and we'll be getting A20 soon. Whining for the sake of whining is toxic and why everyone hates this community.
