Ive been playing DDR for a long time, and yea, I started because of the music. Im not saying what you said isnt true, but it doesent apply to me.

No, I'm Kon. I abandoned the DDR name OMEGA because people were posing as me, and kept making that their name and getting confused. Kon is really short for Konsento, or thats what I wanted it to be. Now I look at it as the word Con, meaning bad, except the letter c is changed with the letter K to be Unique.

What about DDRManiacMark?

I'm not sure if I should just leave this argument to rest or not, but most of us older players didn't have an opinion on the Dancemania / KO music used in the game. We liked the game, and that was just the music that came with it, so we started to like the music BECAUSE of the game. We wouldn't like any of those songs if I just heard them once or twice on the radio. We appreciate the old songs because we liked DDR, and listening to those songs reminded us of the fun we had playing it.

I think that SuperNOVA 2 was the closest game to the first few DDR games, in terms of music. I think DDRX is another direction entirely, but if the original DDR had comprised of 7 Supernova 2 songs or 7 DDRX songs, I don't think it would have changed the way we play it, or the way we'd be looking back and affectionately saying "the old days were better".

If Butterlfy or If You Were Here had never been in DDR, then I think the exact same trends and outcome would have occured. We'd just all fondly remember Boom Boom Dollar as "The Original DDR Anthem", and Max 300 would sound a lot like 'I Believe In Miracles'.

This for the truth! I would wager that most people started to play DDR on Extreme machines. Because of this, they think IIDX cross overs is the standard for DDR, when in reality, DDR isn't doing anything different today than it did years ago. The music has always been all over the place and hit or miss. This is probably the first mix that actually had a theme to most of its music. Honestly, I didn't like any of the Supernova 2 music until I played the flippin' game. Once I did, I started to really like songs like fly away del matador mix, switch, Sunrise and yes, Why Not. Most of the music in DDR I wouldn't go buy a CD of (well I wouldn't have before). One of the neat things about DDR has always been exposure to music you would normally wouldn't listen to. Trance, eletronica, tribal beat, happy hardcore, j-pop, etc etc. I don't care if there's any unlocks, I don't care how many cross overs there are, I don't care about any of the trivial stuff. As long as the music is catchy and the steps do the music is good, then I'll fall in love with the game all over again.

Con is a vulgar word in french. It's like "dumb" or "idiot" but more vulgar. So it's "cunt" in english like Oni says.

Konami is celebrating its 10th anniversary of their dance genre of games with Dance Dance Revolution X. DDR X has the largest song selection from previous DDR games with over 350 songs. Songs range from: 60 new songs including popular hits, remixed original DDR songs, Konami original music and hidden songs.

DDR X is also housed in an electrifying NEW cabinet with a 37" LCD monitor, LED lighting effects and a thundering sound system to enhance play. Look for a new Shock Arrow and upgraded graphics.

The game is e-Amusement ready, player cards will allow on-line ranking and data collection with Internet connection. There is also a Step Chart Edit Mode where players can edit game step charts on their home PCs and bring the data back to the arcade via SD Memory Card.

With such a large following and new features and songs, DDR X is sure to be a big hit.

All the drama aside, don't you think DDR just gets shoved to the back due to how many projects they are juggling right now (there's Yu-Gi-Oh, IIDX Sirius and now a new Pop'n Music title)
