Has anyone that's played on the US cabinets been really annoyed at how low quality the BG videos are?
I haven't noticed.

Is it because of the different make of LCD display being used?

I noticed at Latitude 30's machine. T_T Those graphics are so blurry that it isn't even funny/professional.

I think i just solved the problem here. Granted i have NEVER and may not ever play a DDR X2 machine unless i somehow go on a trip to Orlando or Jacksonville and go to the arcades which have it, but judging from what i've seen through Youtube videos, the quality doesn't seem THAT horrible, maybe for the IIDX -> DDR videos but songs like Daft Punk Is Playing At My House or Bonafied Lovin' looked pretty decent, and this was on VIDEO, i couldn't even imagine how it would look like if i was actually there.
Take into note also that as stated by AeronPeryton, could be the make of the LCD Display that is causing the problem, or mis-use of the LCD screen (striking monitor lol or any other thing that could mess it up).
...but i can't fully say if that's the issue until i see it for myself. :/

Funny enough, that's the only X2 cabinet I've played on (Didn't touch DQ's). They honestly look like really badly put together simfile videos. I could probably rip higher quality from YouTube.
I took a video of it and in my personal video, the background look fantastic but in person, it looks terrible. It's almost like the entire game is in 1080 HD and the videos are in 320.

Yeah, certain videos are really blurry, such as the ones from IIDX.
And stop killing my high scores. T_T Needs more brandono.... T_T

She Is My Wife, Daft Punk is Playing At My House, Bonafied Lovin, Everytime We Touch and Feel Good Inc are the ones I noticed.

I know the beginning with Emi and Afro is pretty low quality, but the actual video never bothered me.
Disclaimer: I play with Darkest screen filter, but bad video quality has always bugged me so I still think I'd notice if it was a serious issue.

I know I'm one day late, but I got to say this. Congratulations on another MFC, Dr. D. The amazing part is that this is no ITG; I understand how freaking hard it is to maintain Marvelous' because DDR isn't Judge Level 1 like ITG.
You are sadly mistaken if you think it's that easy to score in ITG. What have you quadded? Marvs in DDR are harder to get than fantastics, yes, but the difference isn't as big as some people think.
Ya but even the Marvelous window is a fraction of what the fantastic window is on ITG. I still think that fantastic window is a joke compared to the Marvelous window on DDR.
Quading is pretty common among the good players here in NY, and more so in NJ (8 on the breaks). From what I heard, Fantatics and Excellents are close together in timing. Not sure if that's really true but it seems like it. It also seems like getting all Fantastics is like getting all Perfects in DDR. Marvelous timing is way stricter but I was exaggerating when I said Judge Level 1 lol.
No, I never Quadded, but I can back up what I said because of how common Quads are. I don't hear too much of MFC, but even if Quading can't be as hard if songs like Summer speedy mix (one of out the three official 13s) got quadded. You expect me to believe something that stamina driven could get MFC'd?

Hmm, never really noticed it aside from the opening parts of she is my wife (IMO, a poor attempt to say "No this is not a video! It's just dancing characters, rly.").
But this is me playing on an upgrade version of X2, FWIW.

I can't be sure, due to
...I've always been under the impression that some ITG2 Fantastics (highest judgment) could translate to Greats in DDRSN2/X/X2.

// Timing seems less accurate than ITGIO. Use a bigger window to compensate.

// JudgeWindowAdd=0.0015
and the fact I don't have access to the hard drives of the ITG2 dedicabs and upgrade cabs I've played on. But...// (fixed in r15)

"Oh god what I have dooooone?!" |
This was discussed on AIJ a few days ago I noticed.
That's due to a number of themes simply copying the metrics ini of one of the older original themes despite not needing to at all.
It pretty much boiled down to dedicated ITG cabinets having that added due to the polling rate being much less than that of the upgrade cabinets.
Later on the input board was forced to poll at a higher rate but still was found to be not as accurate as the upgrades board so it was left in.
Or something like that anyway.
Put simply, it just adds a tiny bit to either side of the window to compensate for the differences in polling between cabinets and kits. (the line will not be present in an upgrade kit)
I do agree though, that the windows are different between ITG and DDR.
I don't really prefer either of them to be honest. Admittedly though I do like seeing shiny stars on the screen on ITG.

8ftmetalhead: Me too. Tristars are enough for me to be happy, but I would like to get a Quadstar too. But yes, I can see the timing being different between a dedicated and an upgraded cabinet. Thanks for that info.
@Axel: I can Full Excellent Combo a lot of ITG songs and get over 99%, with maybe about 15 Excellents if I did good. In DDR, most of the time I get SDGs. This comparison is from an ITG2 dedicab and DDR Extreme machine. This is where I got that statement you quoted me from.

Hell no. If not i'll get some quad everytime i go to an itg arcade.Imo, without looking any metris or whatever, it's something like this :
Marvelous ->Fantastic ->Perfect -> Excelent ->Great (ddr) ->Great (itg) -> similar stuff
Marvelous are harder to get than Fantastics. But Fantastics are harder to get than Perfects, ect.
So you can also say that : MFC -> Quad -> PFC (ddr) -> FEC (itg)
Also yes summer (speed mix) got quadded, maybe 2 or 3 times only. But you an't comparer this to the fact that american don't get MFC.
Simply because (i said this pages ago maybe) :
- Outside asia, ddr cab suck and you can't MA well.
- There is no ITG cab is Japan.

I'd say Fantastics are slightly tighter than Perfects but easier than Marvelouses.

I was basically repeating what Panstyle said but couldn't edit my earlier post to say so
