Unfortunately, uploading my edit file from JP X causes the web editor to crash, but that may be because I have several edits of songs that aren't yet in the editor.
For anyone who wishes to try, here's my file from DDR X JP (converted the file name to US). If you want to see if it works, make sure you make the "DDR_EDIT" folder on the root of your USB drive and stick this file in it.
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4f7f64c90c02096db94117dade8fc295e04e75f6e8ebb871
If you care, there are edits of 30 Lives, Flight of the Phoenix, Suki Melo, Tabibito, and Slip Out.

I have tried to use your edit file at Asia DDR X (I've renamed the file to DDR_EDIT_A.DAT)
I can't find any edit data in the game mode , both single and double play

I've just did a bit of playing around and I can spoof the request and get an edit file returned. In other words, I have all I need to make a converter right now. The only downside is that you will still need internet access, but either way, it works. I'm not going to advertise the convert too much yet, else Konami will quickly shut my attempts down.

Well I can pass a majority of the boss songs so as long as it's not insanely difficult (I'm looking at you Dead End GRS...) then I should be able to handle it. Just get it uploaded in the next hour or so and I'll give it a try tonight

On the DDR X cab I go to, there are number keypads on either side of the screen, what are they for?

It's for the e-amuse password and other stuff, but it's basically useless unless e-amuse gets turned on by your arcade provider...or if it EVER gets turned on

yea but by that time, the next AC installment might be announced/already getting a location test or something
Basically by that time DDR X would be the "last year's" game (if you get what i am saying).
That's how it's been since Extreme, why would this year be any different?

The way I see it, a DDR X upgrade kit is a downgrade from SN2 anyway. New songs suck, a bunch of old songs are gone, overall inferior game, so I could barely care less about upgrade kits. The only redeeming factor for X was the kick ass new machine they originally advertised as coming with it. Now I just say screw X, bring on the next game and machine. Neither of which are happening for a very long time.

Seriously guys, some of you need to get rid of your emotional attachment to this game and throw away the idea that Konami is your exgirlfriend out to ruin your life.
I hope you're not talking to me, I'm actually doing something about it. As opposed to just sitting her and bitching. I'm not so attached as to not go out and produce a viable alternative to make up for Konami's shortcomings.

I just heard similar complaining about Supernova 2 and how unlocks weren't coming and DDR was being driven into the ground purposely. Supernova 2 is an amazing mix. Dr. D, who's opinion I trust over any of yours, loves DDR X, so I'm going to wait for DDR X upgrade kits to come out and enjoy the heck out of the game.
SuperNOVA 2 is one of the best arcade releases of DDR to date in my opinion. Whoever it was that complained need a reality check.
DDR X is also amazing (the game that is), what is bad about it is how the release is being treated outside of Japan. Konami clearly wasn't going to waste that spectacular new machine on us, and even after we got over the SD cabs we were being given what we truly got was not what we were promised. The hardware is what links the player to the game so even if the player is very good, even if the game is awesome, when the hardware fails, the entire experience fails. And it was something that could have been prevented. Why not just give us the same cabinet used for SuperNOVA 2? Why not just only release upgrade kits? Why not, even after the fact, properly apologize for the mistakes made and vow to fix them as they should? Everything but what was done would have been easier, more cost effective, logical, more respectful to the fans of the game. Konami, regardless how many proxy companies this fiasco has been channeled through, did it wrong... and wrong again and wrong again. They chose to do it this way, for whatever reasons (good or bad) that they have for doing so. It's in my sig and my quote, there's no reason or excuse for this sudden decay of quality and if their PR release is what we can expect in the future there certainly will be no improvement... not from them.
ITG proved in 2005 that we were just as good at making the game from top to bottom as they are. With this, we're definitely far better at it.

A large guess on why the quality has taken a huge hit is the following: AC operators do not want to pay a substantial amount of money for a quality cab that comes from Japan itself. If this is true, I still don't see why exactly why KONAMI doesn't allow arcade operators to CHOOSE the quality they want, what with upgrade kits being unavailable for now. With the two selections being:
1. KONAMI built. Expensive, but quality is good.
2. Raw Thrills built. Cheap, but quality is inferior.
Then again, most will probably pick the RT one anyway.

Yeah, and Konami may grumble when they produce both kinds of cabs and the RT sells out while the Konami built cab is left with huge surpluses, forcing them to either sell them at a huge discount or shut them up in a warehouse, hoping they are eventually sold.

They advertised SuperNOVA as a global release. And, really, it was their most successful global release; all regions were seeing that game not too far apart from each other. Although they did say X would be a "truly global" release, implying that everything before was... not?
I wonder what the price would be of a Japanese cabinet with just the lighting and bells and whistles stripped out. Since that's ideally what a "cheap" cabinet would entail; functional, but lacking the pretty add-ons that contribute nothing to gameplay.

Well I'm guessing it wasn't exactly a "true" global release, because Europe was still getting Dancing Stage SuperNOVA rather than DDRSN. It doesn't make much of a difference, but I guess they just wanted everything identical this time around.Post #7237 · Posted at 2009-08-15 01:30:13am 15.9 years ago

Dancing Stage SuperNOVA AC = Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA AC though, the whole machine, it's features and song list were almost exactly the same in all but name (dear God, I forgot how good SuperNOVA was). THAT is how it should have been in the first place and should be now for all regions. I fear that Europe only got SuperNOVA first to beat the European ban date on the hardware that was used in the cabinet, other than that we were simply glorified game testers. I've heard the syncing is off on SuperNOVA however from my experience I found it a much better cabinet to play on that my experiences with DDRX and vanilla (and upgraded for that matter) Dancing Stage Fusion AC. Both machines pads are so alike in their dodgy sensitivity it's almost uncanny, although Fusion isn't off-sync.
A universal game released around the same time world wide isn't impossible, especially if Konami put in the effort. Thing is as nice as the new cabinet is I've often felt that much of it's new features are unnecessary (aside from the wide LCD flatscreen, I like that a lot) and just add unneeded cost to the machine. Why couldn't it have just been like the SuperNOVA 1/2 cabinets but with the widescreen LCD and maybe slightly better lights and speakers or something?

All I can say to this is...what. the. fuck!?!?New songs suck? Okay, fine, forget the fresh, new wave of dance tracks and go back to the horrible covers (Burn Baby Burn, FAINT, ANMHE) and dodgy selections.
The stepcharts were quite a refresher as well. SN2 had a crapload of BULIMIC easy charts, especially the misrated 8s (and other misrated charts) as well as only a couple of real 9s (in the same mix we had PRO. Yeah, great bridge.

Admit it, you would have loved this game if you hadn't formed an opinion based on your hate of "urban" and the botched US release (yes, this is a downside, but not a reason to hate the game itself).
