Ok, really now. Is it posable to release this game any worst then it was? I don't even want DDR X anymore. They just told the US/EU players to suck it with this game. For a game that celebrating 10 years, it seems like they want to end it at that. Disappointment, That's one word to describe this game. What's worst is it didn't have to be this way. I'm done with AC DDR if things stay the way they are.

Holy shit I have had enough of that DDR X Edit Program. I made one file and thats all I will ever want to make if it stays that way. Its a laggy piece of crap. I cant even tell how well the chart was made. It was just a bad way to make files. Why not a standalone program to put on computers? I think that makes more sense, and would stop it from sucking.

Honestly, if I were to be using it, I'd just make the chart in Stepmania first and translate it there and hope I didn't make a mistake somewhere.
Hopefully the Beta tag means they're actively working on improvements.

Owners of existing machines can trade then in for a discount on a new machine from Electrocoin.
Is Electrocoin still making DDR cabinets in Japan?

Official and final word is "no upgrade kits".
Quote: Arctic Wolves
A strategy to single handedly cripple the quality of DDR machines abroad. I understand why they would not sell upgrade kits, and I agree with that, but not when the only option is to get a cabinet that has been receiving a less than favourable reception. By the way does anyone know what this supposed "pad fix" actually is? What do they change? It'd be nice to eventually have a re-issued cabinet that was as functional as previous machines, right out of the box.
They just did it. I'm going to personally campaign to convert all DDR machine to OpenITG. You just watch. If Konami's really trying to force all the older (good) machines out of the US and EU and at the same time force people to use this cut-corner crap-o-cab made by someone who doesn't care about DDR players, just our money, and not care that this is how one of their most profitable series is being treating and the fans in turn, then it's going to backfire BADLY. Not only are people still going to not buy DDR X (Making Betson a laughing stock for selling a grand total of 7 machines in the US and probably less in Europe) but everyone's going to fall back on cheaper, better alternatives (ITG, PIU, custom cabinets). It really hurts that that half-assed 'apology' is all Konami could respond with. This is big nail in the coffin for Dance Dance Revolution outside of Japan.
Konami: -5 for not even trying anymore.

You do realise that Extreme and Max2 are still the best DDRs you can play, even today.Post #7206 · Posted at 2009-08-13 04:28:21pm 15.9 years ago

SuperNOVA2 bugs me on the fact you MUST play a red song or random to get EXTRA STAGE/ENCORE EXTRA. It limits the choice significantly to be honest. MAX/MAX2/EXTREME/SN seemed to have it good when you could AA any EXP/CHA song and get EXTRA.

You do realise that Extreme and Max2 are still the best DDRs you can play, even today.Yes they are, although it's been a very long time since I've seen a MAX2 in the wild. In Malaysia all I play on are EXTREMEs (And a 4thMIX) because they decided to stop upgrading after that. And it's very satisfying. The thing is that I talk to players here that would love an edit system that didn't require the seriously outdated memory card slots. If Konami had given all the players free DDR for life and a hooker I'd still be working to mass produce OITG systems because the demand is already here. Now I just might get my American contacts to do the same over there.
The biggest issue is machines obviously, I can make them myself or I can build upgrade kits for standing cabinets. If I could find the specs for In The Groove 2 that'd be lovely. But I'm not just spouting anger at Konami with this. This is as much a response to their pitiful response and the natural evolution of the game. I'm already talking to people with contacts inside game rooms and suppliers to make this happen. I just think that since Konami has clearly and thoroughly demonstrated that they don't have the energy or the will to hold the market then the fans will step and do it for them. ITG was the first such attempt and Konami's suit was more the breathless lashing out of a tired giant than a calculated maneuver of a strong company, if it happened again they wouldn't have anything to stand on (Their claiming that the machine sold to other people and paid for in full by arcades still somehow belonged to them and they had the right to tell people exactly how they could and could not used them was a victory in sheer technicality that would never have stood of Roxor had the power to properly defend themselves).m
Anyways... </soapbox> OpenITG is better because the program is open source, there's plenty of simfiles that use free music or music with CC licensing, you can always do what DDRUK did and just register the machine as a jukebox... the biggest mistake the ITG team did was try to do a fan DDR and make money at the same time. Now that most of those people are dedicated to producing OpenITG or release their music through StepMix and such a machine can be produced without as much legal issue.
We'll see what happens. If I do produce a model that can be deployed I'll be sure to let people here know since there are arcade owners that come here that might be interested.

Unsurprising~
If this follows SN2's lead, a full unlock will be forthcoming two to three weeks from tonight.
All that's left is Xmix4, Xmix5, Trigger, Boss Rush X, and the X-Specials I think.

"TAKING IT TO THE PIE" |
Seriously guys, some of you need to get rid of your emotional attachment to this game and throw away the idea that Konami is your exgirlfriend out to ruin your life. The way Konami is acting now is no different than how they've acted in the past. Remember, DDR 2nd-8th mix were never event meant for the US release, so don't act like Konami "did better in the past". Upgrade kits will come out, unlock codes are going to come and the world will move on. No business in its right mind will ever do things to drive one of its products out of business. Why have no idea what might be causing DDR X upgrade kits to take so long. Remember, this isn't as simple as giving the specs to a warehouse next door and then start offering them the next day. Konami's only job isn't DDR . Maybe the folks that work on DDR are told to focus on the DDR 09 game or maybe the next DDR game.
I just heard similar complaining about Supernova 2 and how unlocks weren't coming and DDR was being driven into the ground purposely. Supernova 2 is an amazing mix. Dr. D, who's opinion I trust over any of yours, loves DDR X, so I'm going to wait for DDR X upgrade kits to come out and enjoy the heck out of the game.

Yep yep. Only difference is that Dr. D has access to upgraded and patched cabs with e-AMUSEMENT and we don't for the time being.

...*sigh* figures -__-
Anyways, the hype of this game got to me, i guess looking at the AC outlook in the US for the DDR X machines seem to be low, none of the locations seem to have e-amuse available, and apparently, no upgrade kits are coming out until December...
...beh, DDR 09, impress the living s*** out of me =P

Usually two songs get unlocked after an IR ends, so maybe Trigger and Xmix4 together.

This. DDR X would be infinitely more appealing if it was in the same state as it was in Asia, but it's not. Actually, there's barely even any SuperNOVA's here; even if X's release went smoothly and e-AMUSE was available and affordable, I doubt I'd see any of it, sigh.

On a lighter note, I'll be going to Gameworks tonight to play on the DDR X machine there so if anyone has any edits they want to post up I could try them out and see if they work, although I won't be able to film 'em because this Gameworks doesn't allow cameras inside.
And I'll check to see if this machine has gotten the patch yet (although I have a feeling that's very unlikely)
