Last we heard, boss songs would be on a six month cycle while normal songs would be on a monthly cycle. That information came from the unofficial timeline displayed at one of the arcades here in Japan. I don't think it was found out where they got that info, but it makes sense. Especially since the official landing site Pie posted mentions adding new content "throughout the year".
I can only assume the info the arcade got is accurate. If it's not, whatever. I was just curious as to the lifetime of added content, not so much the frequency.

Because bottom page.

10 new songs added every 2 months, bosses every 6
Im also curious as to whether or not they keep the songs permanently or if they just go the way of saucer, though I highly doubt it.
Then again it's Konami.
I suppose we're bound to find out at some point.

You know how the songs are all organised into folders according to their respective mixes? This is probably just wishful thinking, but if they kept all the songs accessible, but just made more folders every 6 months or so it could work..
Like, keep the 1stMIX-X3 vs. 2ndMIX folders as they are, but organise everything else by having two 'seasons' per year or something, so there'd be "2013 Season 1" for January-June releases and "2013 Season 2" for July-December. I dunno, I'm half-asleep so I'm probably just throwing out silly ideas, but that's pretty much all we can do until release day

Well yeah, cause if they're still doing this two years from now, a single DDR 2013 folder would get really large.

DDR doesn't have random online matching so they don't really have a valid reason to randomly remove KOs . this was stated to be the reason why saucer removes songs, though the pattern still doesn't make sense.

The X3 folder became a bear after 2ndMIX and the umpteenth eAmuse unlocks, you can burn up your whole timer just going from one end to the other. You underestimate the power of the KONMAI.
Here's a theory: They continue making "mixes" every year but all they do is mail out a marquee to put on the cabinet and the machine simply downloads the new data and stamps it onto the existing installation. Maybe they can do a seasonal thing like they did with REFLEC BEAT colette.
I think I'll go bid farewell to X3 tonight and then run under the assumption that Leisure Land 2 will have DDR by midday tomorrow... Any info requests? (I'm not going to risk taking pictures just yet)

Japanese arcades have a standing no photos/no video policy. Some are lax about it (last time I was here I was able to take gameplay videos at one location without a problem), but most are not. I'm going to try to not to get kicked out of the only location in Tokyo I've found that has five DDR machines end to end.
If I see anyone else taking pictures I'll risk getting some shots of the UI (of which I'm still skeptical about).

I would love to see any courses they have available. No idea why, but I've become fascinated with them lately.

Sure enough, I open my mouth about the number of machines at Tokyo Leisure Land 2 and when I went there tonight... two of them were missing. It struck me as strange because of which two it was. That location had two X2 Bemani PC cabinets, two upgraded Python cabinets (Old style machines in fire engine red), and one upgraded 573 cabinet (No telling what the poor old thing was to begin with). One of the Python and one of the Bemani PC cabinets (!) had vanished. This implies a few things...
They're definitely getting at least one of the new white cabinets, most likely two of them.
If they're hanging onto older machines there will likely be upgrade kits, even for the ye olde machines. Unless those hang around as X3s which doesn't seem likely ...but if they do, I'll get to enjoy the 2ndMIX tracks a bit longer.
Tomorrow (later today) they will have at least one of every single DDR hardware iteration ever made for Japan. As if they're collecting them or something.
Welp... Seven hours to go until that location re-opens. Can't wait to play on the new My Little DDR: Combos are Magic machine!

@Soinlove on twitter just confirmed that Leisure Land 2 is getting two of the new machines.

Fire engine red upgrades are semi-confirmed http://www.konami.jp/am/ac_ope/pdf/20130311_06.pdf
I didn't realize even older machines than that were running X3 at all in Japan

There are a number of the old black cabinets still hanging out. It was surprising to me that they let them go to X3. That Python cabinet in the .pdf is hilarious. The USB dashboard from X (with the orange decals from X), the screen glass from X3 and a DDR marquee. It looks so cobbled together at this point and absolutely none of the SD cabinets in play look that nice.
Has Konami ever deprecated Bemani hardware that wasn't because of physical gameplay changes (beatmania --> beatmania IIDX)?

English one is likely for Asia, they tend to release English documentation for the region.

Those photos couldn't look more doctored up if they were on the cover of TMZ. How does the stage-joining plate stay on without any screws??
And the foot on the dancing silhouette reminds me that half the members of this website could show up Konami's art department any day of the week.
A full-thickness stage with kickers, bar pads, and two screw on every arrow bracket, four to an arrow doesn't scream Betson to me. Did Asia get the red Python cabinets? As of X3 what does a brand new DDR machine look like in, say, Singapore?

Yeah; in my opinion it looks like a 3D rendering. But on the floor you can clearly see a shadow. It's elevated... somehow.
But look carefully here. Legs. That looks normal to me.
