Warnings And Bans

I've not been on ZiV for a while but I think there needs to be a Ban Request button and a Manual account authorisation thing on this site so we don't get hamsand'ed again.

Oh yeah, his rage at being yelled at for requesting a banner in Lord Toon's thread. And subsequent guilt trip that ensued when the other members showed up and somehow I felt it was my fault he flipped out.

That makes me feel like once again, he didn't deserve the low rating he has. Yes, he did a crime, but it was very long ago. I for example commited the same crime a month ago or something, yet I've been treated VERY (and I mean it, VERY) leniently in comparison to him. Yeah, I maybe didn't have a rage though, cause I just wanted to hide from the crime, thus shielding myself from the outcry.

After reading Mercury's post, I was like, hasn't it been a long enough time to pay for something. One year, and he's still sunk.
But I'm not gonna say that, to whom it may concern, they withdraw their -5s.

He does have a knack of overlooking something recently discussed or shown, and that is forum inconvenience.

1000 posts gained by a mixture of serious and everything else posts.

Some people are way too trigger happy on the -5s. Al's pointed this out in the past; some people had doled out some insane number of -5s. I don't see a problem with the current system as long as people realize that giving -5 is supposed to be for someone who is severely disrupting forum life continually, not being a mild annoyance for a page.

And, to be fair, a lot of these page-long outbursts wouldn't happen if some people just left well alone. Someone makes a mistake, and four people come in and rail on them for an entire page. And that, I find, is far more disruptive to the forums than a single post by someone who makes a one-off useless post.

I might employ compulsory rating comments in the future, i.e. why you are giving positive or negative ratings to that user etc.

Of course, the comments would be anonymous for all members except admins.

He's done his share of both good stuff and dumbass stuff in the past. I figure he deserves another chance so I removed my -5 from him to help pull him out of the fire.

I guess it's because it was another guy who tried to use ban evasion by creating that account, considering that he became banned BEFORE he hit -100.
