Back from Singapore, fun with X2 and Pump Pro 2.
Just a reminder, these dumps and posts I'm doing are overlapping a lot of stuff that's already been on this thread because I'm posting what I find is missing from Spyhunter's pack. It's a lot easier than fishing through the older posts in the thread and these free image-hosting sites only keep the images up for so long.
Now that I'm awake and have Coke flowing through my veins, here's my review of the August 27 pack.

First of all, Aaron, you blew my mind again. My original resizing of banners was only meant to be a placeholder.
However, DDR 1st definitely uses a larger resolution for banners in-game. Compare this to 2ndMIX. The smaller banners are also used when appending the CS version of 1st to 2ndMIX. Sounds confusing, see this.
But enough about that. New pack up, and it's really ballooned in size (62.9MB)!
P.S. I propose we have ZIv's simfiles use the original, unresized banners like what you posted, for songs that haven't been revived since MAX/2.

That... I... sonova...

Right then, I'll see about getting the original AC images and compare them... because it does look like the fonts on HYNBM have changed but it also looks like the images are being blown up and stretched from another size.
Cute, they're 256x64, stretched high in-game. HAVE YOU NEVER BEEN MELLOW is slightly different, and THAT'S THE WAY (I LIKE IT) has transparency. Otherwise, we have original banners that are higher resolution. Compared to 2ndMIX the banner elements seems pressed closer together as well.
Edit: I looked again. They don't stretch the banners vertically, they pick the artist out of the image and pull it away from the title. Look at the images below, it just so happens that the height of the title and artist is the same for every song and there's a clear horizontal break between them. In the image file the title and artist are right next to each other, looking like part of the same graphic in some of them. In the game there's like a five to eight pixel gap. Playstation DDR does the same thing.
Discuss.

These are all from the arcade, which took a lot of clever things to get to. I can't get the images out of the PlayStation game yet, it's not packaged the same way the other PlayStation games are.

Here's some stuff I missed:
Clean rip of Fusion playstation banner:

Clean rips of English banners:

Clean rips of 2ndMIX alternates:

These are from 2ndMIX, unused (obviously):

Also Beta XANADU has THE coolest CD in the whole damn series:

Something I've noticed, replacing all the 192x55 banners. There are A LOT of images (banners and backgrounds both) in your pack that seem to have been re-sized/re-saved and due to that count as high at 25,000 colours in images that for the most part don't have more than 256. It's not all of them, and there's no apparent pattern, what are you doing to them?

P.S. I propose we have ZIv's simfiles use the original, unresized banners like what you posted, for songs that haven't been revived since MAX/2.
I don't agree with this. StepMania stretches the banners to keep the same ratio. It won't stretch them to 256x80. Because the older, smaller banners were wider than the DDRMAX-era banners, StepMania would crop the sides of the banner in order for them to fit in the 256x80 window.

This actually depends on which theme you use, as the banner's display is governed by the metrics.

That's true. But I've used a lot of themes, and I can't think of one that doesn't stretch the images. Konami stretches their old banners the way ZiV does anyways.

Personally I think they look better pixel-enlarged. At least the old banners do. Like those 5thMIX examples I posted a couple pages ago.

P.S. My rationale for having ZIv using unedited, unresized banners is 1) the banners' aspect ratios aren't changed, 2) the color count is capped at 255, and 3) as long as the original files are kept on here, people can make their own modifications if they wish.

I am putting up a page with all the DDR graphics available. I am still missing a few images like the extra/Konamix "Broken My Heart" banner.
Currently only Tab A and B have graphics... I will upload the rest from time to time.
Warning: this page is NOT 56K friendly!

Old banners: 192 x 55 = 3.49 aspect ratio
Newer banners: 256 x 80 = 3.2 aspect ratio
The old banners are wider.
