I liked the "Hottest Party" subtitle, but 5 of them in a row is a bit much, isn't it? D8; Any reason why the EU DDR won't go with a new subtitle, or just go with "Dancing Stage II" or something? OTL
Konami retired the "Dancing Stage" series a while back. They even felt the need to make it a press release, if anyone knows off-hand where it is.

It was the press release for Hottest Party 2.

The press release was here: http://www.voltagepr.com/release.asp?i=826
I thought it was somewhere else where they made a big deal out of it, that press release doesn't mention about it changing from DS.

DDR X is the latest instalment from the iconic Dancing Stage series. The brand has been renamed worldwide to DanceDanceRevolution, not just in the arcades, but in the home versions too; the purpose of this is to create global synergy in the brand.

This is possibly the original Kung-Fu Fighting, as the video features two men karate-fighting/dancing in the background.
And thanks to this it could also be the Bus Stop version.
Hopefully Konami will give it a harder chart if it truly is the Bus Stop version.

I always thought that the name change should have happened with SuperNOVA. Would have made more sense to start there.
Still didn't change how different the regional releases were... nor how badly Europe was treated. What is it with the music and rhythm genre that the games need to be released six months to a year late, or never in Europe and Australia? It's almost a staple by this point.
Has "When Love Takes Over" been in a game yet? I always thought that it was a great recent hit that deserved the DDR treatment.

If Konami really loved us, we'd have gotten Universe 3. :<

Not exactly sure why Konami Plays favorites like that. They'd be a LOT more successful if they treated everyone equal.

They would release more DDR games in Europe, but they just can't afford it after they pay Natasha Bedingfield's licensing fees.

Why is she even in DDR?? It's not like we need her. She's nothing special. I remember when i got X2 (North America CS) and i saw Pocketful Of Sunshine. I instantly let out a groan of agony. Konami's weird fettishes don't need to be our pain and suffering.Post #692 · Posted at 2011-08-08 08:59:19am 14.2 years ago

It doesn't help that a lot of licences I actually really wanted to see (well, at least Canned Heat) turned up...in the US releases we don't get.

I'm all for Europe having the same slice of the pie as the rest of us. I can't stress enough how much more business it would give Konami. It would be in their best interest to treat Europe fairly. I think in Norway, it's an official sport or something

It's not just Konami who does it though. In their defence, it's possible that the amount of effort and money required to release a game in PAL territories, often including necessary translation where English (and maybe Spanish) would be enough for America, doesn't give enough of a return in profits to make it worthwhile.
There's also the fact that artists aren't always famous world-wide, so picking a famous American artist wouldn't always work for Europe where they'd be relatively unknown.
That said, DDR pretty much made a name for itself by including tons of songs barely anyone knows, but people still playing and enjoying it. Take Afronova, for instance, which is a KO, but has been notoriously popular here in the UK, especially amongst the chav crowd.

Actually, Dancing Stage Max, which is what I class as the best PS2 Dancing Stage release (not that it had a lot of competition), featured "These Words" by Natasha which I happen to like. "Unwritten" is probably her best song, though not the best to dance to.
If I was being honest though, Pitbull is far worse on the annoyance scale for me.

I don't hate Pitbull, but i don't exactly care for him, either. He's just kinda there, like the neighbor you say hey to every morning, but you never really get into a full conversation with him

Pitbull, for me, is that annoying jerk who always comes round uninvited and spoils your favourite songs by trying to rap along as though he's gangsta, but really he's just a self-obsessed idiot who you secretly plot to murder to do the world a favour.
Two of my unfinished simfiles feature him and I'm quite proud of myself for being so successful at removing him entirely from one song and almost entirely from another. It's like I'm systematically killing him off by targeting songs he's featured in and finding ways to remove him.

B.O.B. is the same way. I try to listen to Hayley's beautiful voice during the chorus on Airplanes but he keeps chiming in with his annoying voice during the "wish right now, wish right now, wish right now" part. Isn't it bad enough that his shitty rapping takes up most of the song without him having to be featured in the chorus as well?

It's not that i didn't appreciate I Know You Want Me being on X2 (CS), it's just......it was not my cup of tea, nor was Let's Get It Started. When i grow up almost made me throw up when i first played it. Here's hoping that DDR II won't have an evil license-child with X3....I want to know the SPICE GIRLS song D:
