Yeah, in regular game mode, the stages are renewed and look a lot better, but for some reason, when you play SMM the stages don't have the upgrades. Not a big deal really, since you won't even play SMM once you have everything unlocked, but strange nonetheless.

Before anyone cries foul, I'm going to go out and say the SMM-Specials are pretty blatant jokes. I really doubt they're meant to be taken seriously.

Mm...not really. I mean, there's no way it's a SuperNOVA-type release. They added some really useful things like Screen Filter, doing things from fixing old stepcharts to adding Wii songs, and the stepcharts are way beyond most of the SuperNOVA series charts. The only thing that's suffering here is the sound. Hit-and-miss commissions, generic-sounding licenses, and an annoying announcer.

I know for a fact that at least some of the unhappiness about songs has gotten up to the higher-ups, and hopefully they can fix it for the next game. Or hey, just hire jun back as Sound Director and you've not got a thing to fix!

Actually, one thing about jun is that the licenses have been a bit weak under her. Hopefully we can get those looked at too.

I believe that "blue thing" is the special effects that happen when you get a 3rd toastie. At least I thought I read around here somewhere that some kind of effects happen when you get a 3rd toastie thing.

I'll admit that it looks crossoverable, with no spins, which is a plus in my book, but the step rhythms in it seem fairly random to me.
HDVO called. It wants to know if there's a new contender. I told it not yet, though there's one that's close.

Funny that -
AC has "X-Special" for PARANOiA and TRIP MACHINE
CS has "SMM-Special" for the 2nd songs in each of the Paranoia and Trip Machine series.

Hopefully the arcade banners can be ripped soon so we can have all the X-Specials and Wii songs (if there are more.)
