well the ban system really doesn't work because some people will give you - points when people not even online and came back the next day and recieved -19 pts.
yesturday I got + and I didn't post anything and today login in and got -... I think it's a good idea to have an option to explain why people giving - points each time so we know why we gotten = points
I know some people abusing them...

A way I've been meaning to propose is that new members be immune to negative ratings and themselves be unable to rate any member(should last for 1 week). A lot of new members are rated down just by asking game-related questions, like rachelbeat or someone, or by having a bad first impression.

I actually like this idea quite a bit. It would prevent people from suffering from "new guy = instabanned" syndrome. If it's clear as day that a new member is a duplicate account, they would be instantly banned by al2k4 or Pie-kun anyway.

Well, people can still see stupid stuff you post even after you go offline, so thats probably going to happen from time to time.

I just think that people should be more wary when they rate someone. I mean, if someone gives another person a -5, it becomes somewhat of a chain reaction and more people will start give -5's to the victim. I can say this cause I've witnessed it myself.
Also, I think mageman17 came up with a real good idea here. "New-person insta-ban" syndrome as Viper calls it has obviously become a problem, and wouldn't give Z-I-V a good name for those who are new here nowadays.

Ditto. And I also like the idea of having the short reason for negative ratings. If used properly, the unfortunate soul could at least try to change his/her ways before a banhammer crit.

Well, its up to the big man himself how and if this gets implemented "points upward".
On an unrelated note, I'm glad one word posts are allowed (I was taught to say only what I was needed of, it ticks some people off when I say more than what's needed).

I've noticed that simfiles get rated. Can that also affect the user rating or is that totally irrelevant?
