It could be a representation of pokemon retaining certain physical traits when breeding?
Yes, exactly that. I mean, Pikachus don't turn into Raichus by natural means. There has to be an external force, whether intentional or accidental. It makes sense, then, that not all Raichus should necessarily birth Pichus (or should birth them at all). Though I suppose that then implies that it would be an entirely different tree. It would converge at stage 3 instead of 2.Post #662 · Posted at 2013-08-17 09:47:15am 11.8 years ago

Along with the Pokemon X & Y anime that will occur, there will also be another anime to coincide with X & Y called Pokemon: The Origins. Not a whole lot is known about it now, but it's said to be directly based on the games as it stars Red and Green as the main characters. It's also known that Red will be battling Brock.
Even though the Pokemon anime has been upsetting me for the past few years, I actually might watch this if it does end up getting localized for the US.

I like to think that Pokemon Origins is Nintendo's way of testing the market to see if the demographic is willing to accept a main character that isn't Ash Ketchum. I really hope it'll replace Ash.

I hope so, too, because I hate Ash now.

*watches the vid*
OMG this. This is what the Pokémon Anime should be and not what we had for the past umpteen years, don't get me wrong here I do like the current anime though I don't watch it as much. Man where the fuck has this been? They just came up with this now?!
WOW all I can say is WOW. This truly puts this current anime to shame.
I think I'm going to have a Fangasim.

Damn it I want to comment on how fucking awesome this shit is.

I seriously hope that this will get a dub because I want to watch this. And I feel like my wish was granted because I had hoped for a Pokemon anime to not include Ash whatsoever.

If Origins were to continue on to be a series, I hope that there won't be any filler episodes between each town that has a Gym Leader. However if filler episodes are required just have the episode be nothing more than Red battling all of the trainers along each route and/or catching Pokémon for his team/filling the dex.
Has everyone notice how this vid starts off just about the same as episode one of Pokémon (entitled Pokémon I choose you!)?

Well that's not very surprising, at least to me.

I remember back in the day when I would carry my Pokemon strategy guide to school. If I could do that today, well, forget weight training, just drag that all over creation and you're set. Pokemon's gotten so expansive in its old age. ._.Post #672 · Posted at 2013-08-23 03:55:49pm 11.8 years ago

Wait. Now there's 3 Guide books this time around? Holy cow.

I'm going to guess that Kalos is by far the biggest region to date.

lol, that, on top of the free Torchic + Blazikenite distribution right after release.
Mega Pokemon's totally gonna change the metagame a lot. (well at least they can't hold items)
Ok so there's this thing from the Direct? https://twitter.com/BulbaNewsNOW/status/375251307835039745/photo/1
And there's Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Transporter.
Pokemon Bank is tied to a 3DS system, works as a cloud service to store Pokemon in it.
Pokemon Transporter works with Pokemon Bank to move Pokemon from Gen V to X/Y.
Pokemon Bank will be a paid service. There's an annual fee but it's yet to be announced.
And finally, X/Y themed 3DS will be available in the US and Europe (red and blue colored).

bump, a few info on X/Y's PGL.
-Your adventure log is recorded and when you sync your game it'll display on your PGL, forming a time line. Can be set to public.
-Online battles and competitions (nothing new)
-Photo sharing. (you know the camera feature)
More info will be released gradually.

So, MegaCharizard is getting drought? This actually not work as well as we think. A weather starter will have to constantly switch in to change the weather, and Charizard taking 50% every switch in is really a lot. MegaVenusaur loses clorophyll to thick fat. Possiblt this could allow it to get a defensive niche, due to losing two resistances. MegaBlastoise will have a ability to increase some of its attacks. This doesn't seem to good to it, since it is mainly used as a defensive spinner.

(if you EV train it to have a high special attack, the whole "sun lessens water attacks" would be null and void with it's new ability to power up water pulse, which is a great water attack because it may also confuse the opponent)
This is kinda incorrect. Despite the fact you should be EV training your pokemon anyway, water pulse has a very low base power and using a sun inducer with such a thing is always a bad idea, even with a boosting ability. The effect with confusion and water pulse is only viable on jirachi in rain, due to serene grace doubling the chances, with having water pulse retain a decent BP.

The elements that ARE weak to water are the same elements that have very weak defense and/or special defense anyways, so M.Blastoise would only use water pulse against those elements anyways while having the option to learn other moves to take care of the other elements that M.Venusaur or M.Charizard can't (like Dark Pulse, which works perfectly on psychic types that can do massive damage to M.Venusaur cause of it's poison type). Even if those three elemets (fire, rock, ground) had moves that could do harm to Blastoise, Blastoise is built like a tank, so it really wouldn't phaze him much anyways
The thing that matters that even if you intend to use this team, I have heard one MegaEvo is allowed per team. Back to the competitive aspect, those pokemon do not often have low defense. They are merely bad defensive types. You will weaken your STAB attacks by running drought without a water type. Also, using a defensive venusaur, without the clorophyll makes the sun more of a liability instead of the usual advantage. Blastoise is indeed built as a defensive mon, but that expands on the point that you won't want to weaken your attacks. Say we have a slightly Specially defensive golem, against a usual tanking blastoise.
0 SpA Blastoise Scald vs. 200 HP / 252 SpD Golem in sun: 156-184 (44.44 - 52.42%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
or if you have max spa on a blastoise
252 SpA Blastoise Scald vs. 200 HP / 252 SpD Golem in sun: 204-240 (58.11 - 68.37%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
It really will not manage to do so much. So if you run sun with a water, you halve the attacks power. That causes a pokemon with a little low offensive stats you really want to run something other than sun, in order to net extra ko's.
