"Revolution"
I think that one is tied with KCET for 3rd in my list.

Anyway, can someone post a video for the new course?
Music is always running in my mind... Everyday, songs old and new come to mind.
...
I wonder how a DJ Hero-esque mix of an AFRONOVA medley and Fascination MAXX would sound...

Some DDR Solo machines came with no bar. However, I remember seeing a DDR Solo 4thMIX WITH a bar years back.

But, then again, only two-player machines have been made since the release of 5thMIX, so in sillybear's case, the bar was removed.

There are 2 separate models I believe, one without it and one with it. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Maybe the arcade owner hates bar users.

DDR Solo came without a bar.

There was a mounting that allowed you to raise the stage off the ground and attach a bar, but it's not the same kind of bar as regular cabinets.

I think the bar add on makes the pad look small.

That's not really original... Our DDR Machine here is customized, same for pads... operated by PS2 with harddisk including games from DDRMAX1 JP up to DDRX JP... all songs unlocked for each series. so we can choose any series to play by ourselves... but mostly DDR EXTREME JP... only few especially the advanced players (like me... ahemmm) play DDRX JP then DDR SuperNOVA2 JP...

That outline I highlighted is the actual pad. It slots into the mounting, which makes it wider and raises it off the ground. The pad itself is a bit thinner than a Cobalt Flux, and it lies flat on the ground, without a bar (obviously).

The machine and pad are both meant to be iiiiiiitiiiiny. The idea behind the Solo series was to market it to arcades who didn't have the room to dedicate to a full-size DDR machine. The gimmick was that each game in the series would be entirely dedicated to one genre of music. They never released more than 2 of them, though (Reggaeton and Happy Hardcore).. Oh, and it's the 3rd game in the DDR series, and the first DDR game to include speed mods.

This is the machine that really got me into playing DDR Smile

I thought another reason Konami developed DDR Solo was to appeal to the pump players with the diagonal arrows.

Also, there are DDR 4th and 4th Plus Solo machines, so it's kind of a half mix?

What the hell are you on, reggaeton wasn't even popular back then lolol, for both of the original SOLO games the licensed songs were from the Dancemania Bass albums (hence the first game in the SOLO series being called "Solo Bass Mix") and a few from the Dancemania Speed series, along with a few Konami originals such as Hysteria, Paranoia Evolution, Drop Out, and a few others that later were added to the "canon" series.

It was the first DDR with a speed modifier (yes, only one, and you had to press left right left right on the pad to access the secret menu) called "FAST" which would be the equivalent of today's x2. Not pretty at 30fps, though.

SOLO 2000 was my first DDR game too back in 2000Puppy Face.

no, dufus. DDR is just like any other cardiovascular workout. if you dont breathe, you're done. if you run on a track, can you sprint hardcore without breathing then slow down and breathe, then pick it back up and not breathe? hell no. your body will hate you, and you'll probably pass out from the lack of oxygen. think the same with max300 or whatever 10 you're playing. BREATHE DURING THE WHOLE SONG.

Noobsterz, I learned that the hard way. I know that I have the ability to do almost all of the songs in the entire series, BUT, sometimes, I don't have the energy. For example, I can pass Horatio without any problems, but if I play something like Arrabbiata, I can't pass that because it drains the fuck out of my energy.

Me too! And you mean to tell me you've never tried SLOW (0.5x) or SPECIAL (Boost)?! Lamesauce.

SPECIAL + Reverse + 6-Panel + Nonstop = the shit. ;)

I don't think Konami had Pump in mind at all when they came up with Solo Bass Mix. It probably had more to do with creating a novelty factor, so that largers arcades had a reason to buy both a 3rd Mix and a Solo Bass Mix, because they "played differently". It doesn't feel like Pump at all, just a slightly more awkward, much, much easier version of DDR.

4th Mix Solo is just a slightly different build of the normal 4th Mix board, with 6-panel mode instead of double mode. It doesn't use any of the songs from the first 2 Solo mixes (except the boss songs, which were BeMani crossovers in regular 4th Mix, anyway). I don't think Konami consider 4th Mix Solo to be a seperate gane, just 4th Mix running in a different "mode".

Special was awesome. I remember when being able to pass Drop Out on Special made you the God Of Your Arcade :

I remember what happened if you pressed "Start" while the song was playing, and it was absolutely the greatest thing ever at the time.

Have you ever played 4-player Solo 2000? It's pretty awesome, especialy when you're playing on the original pads, and can leap across to press your opponent's start buttons, during gaps in the steps!
