I wonder if the system music is on the OST. (dat staff roll)

It would have been announced already if it was. There are no system loop tracks on the OST.

is it too soon to say "I wish that were possible in America/Europe"? (i no longer have any faith in the longterm viability of the US/EU X2 pads)

Its a shame really because like with DDR X 1 the game will be playable as long as you get there before the pads deteriorate, the only difference with the x2 design is it'll take a few weeks of nonstop play to wear it down as opposed to about 2 credits.

Sorry for the strange request, but:

Are there any direct line-out videos of the words "Encore Extra Stage" and "Failed" being displayed on the screen?
I can find videos for "1st Stage" through "6th Stage", "Final Stage", "Extra Stage", and "Cleared", but not those two.

(If not line-outs, at least high quality videos where the camera stays perfectly still)

EDIT: Found them.

The thing is, the endurance of the X2 pads has only failed on 1 out of 6 or 7 machines. And I would dare to say that Round1's machine got a lot more play time than a typical DDR machine gets. Even shipped straight from Japan Extreme machines failed quickly here (at my arcade) after the first 2 months of heavy play. Once the initial fresh factor wore off, pads remained stable for the most part. I say wait and see what the other machines do before assuming that the X2 pads don't stand up.

Don't the X2 pads use the same type of sensors as old DDR pads? If so, there's no reason people can't buy new sensors assuming you explain it to the machine owner.

But the difference here is from what ive read pads are becoming TOO sensitive and are triggering when you dont want them to, older pads tended to deteriorate and become less sensitive and almost impossible to use unless you stamped the hell out of them which just made it worse. Unless ive heavily misunderstood the situation

A simple foam mod can fix under-sensitive sensors. Over-sensitive sensors will not magically get better unless foam is the issue. If it isn't a foam issue, the sensor is broken. If it is because of the foam, the foam need to be broken in.

so do X2 pads have 4 sensors in each arrow or just 1?

from what I could tell from the cab in Birmingham, it has 4 sensors as I tested each edge of each arrow

POSSESSIONHeavy is the highest stream chart on X2, My Groove Radar confirms that. As such, a Challenge chart is seeming a bit unlikely...
nice.

Remember, there's still 4 other factors that Konami can abuse. It wouldn't be the first time they did.

Isn't it already 9:15am in Japan? When are the machines usually updated?
