Yup, means you no longer need to fulfil the extra requirements (play songs from a certain folder with certain mods, etc) in addition to just getting Extra Stage.
Cool, thanks!

Does anyone have instructions on how to transfer the edits between Supernova 2 to X and then onto USB?

0. NOTE THAT TO DO THIS, YOU MUST BE USING THE JAPANESE VERSIONS OF THE DDR GAMES. WTF, still?! Yes.
1. Access your library in Edit Mode, and "Export" your DDR SuperNOVA 2 edit. Repeat for each edit, which will then save on your Memory Card OUTSIDE of your library.
2. Make or open an edit library for DDR X, then "Import" the raw edit data from your Memory Card into DDR X's edit library.
3. Use DDR X's Edit Mode/Library to "Export to USB." It helps a LOT to have your USB drive in your PS2 for this step, btw. ;)
4. Plug the USB drive into a Japanese DDR X arcade machine to register your Edit Data... after you insert a credit, and before you press start. Words on the bottom and a coin-insert sound will tell you if it registers correctly.
5. Find the song your Edit Data is registered for, then double tap the right arrow to bring up your edit(s) for the song. (This is how EXTREME works, anyways... there may be a folder called "EDIT DATA" that you need to select in the Groups catergory instead.)
6. Select your edit to play it.
Also notice: AA'ing it on Final Stage - even on a boss song - will not allow Extra Stage, and I don't even think A-or-bettering it, regardless of it's difficulty, will allow Final Stage-only boss songs. You'll have to use offical charts for those, still.
USA is SUPPOSED to be getting SD-Card drives for their Arcade Machines (all TEN of them! *gasp*), and there's supposed to be a web-based stepchart-editing application for using THOSE. And if you wanna make edits for Hottest Party crossovers? Well for now, you're all SoL.

lol, even the custom edits made by players have moronic doublestepping problems all over the place.
I guess it's just endemic to the Japanese community. People don't know how to place steps that flow and keep you facing the screen.
As for the hands, either learn to bracket (put your foot on the corner between two arrows, so that your heel is on one and your toes on the other) or learn to be ready to go down when you're holding freezes. The hands in that chart are easy.

Heaven forbid we try to add some variety and keep this a game of stomping with alternating feet while facing the same direction. It's an absolute mistake to make every chart the equivalent of Electro Tuned (the SubS mix) Difficult. When I went into those videos after reading this, I was expecting 16ths with double stepping which is awful, but 8ths? That's just fine; in fact, people double-step actual crossovers all the time, extremely good players, because it's easier for them to do that in some cases. Sometimes, double stepping adds a lot; the ending of Polyrhythm is so awesome because it just alternates the same 3 arrows, following the vocals exactly, it's really fun.I guess it's just endemic to the Japanese community. People don't know how to place steps that flow and keep you facing the screen.
Based on where they placed the 16ths, I argue that the editor knows entirely how to place steps that flow on alternating feet and the double-stepping is entirely deliberate. I write deliberate double-steps on slower songs because it evokes a different feeling and movement, and not every song should be the equivalent of running in place.
Double-steps may be awfully used by a lot of people, but that certainly does not make it a tool we should exclude completely from our step charts, otherwise we're crippling our potential for variety and fun steps.
I mean, I dislike most double stepping sure, but when it feels deliberate and it actually adds something else to the steps, then I'm all for it. My point is, don't decry all double-stepping as inherently evil and awful step practices. I'm not a huge fan of that edit, but that's because I'm not a huge fan of hands.

I'm sorry but that Maria chart is awful. ITG hands are fun because you don't have to dive down quickly to hit them =)

ok i agree with Mercury.
Im confused guys , i thought that japanese players could make good edits? Ive only seen one or two so far and they were DrD's! Ive seen some ok ones and a lot of crappy ones but with such a huge songlist i was expecting so much more!
If we actually had a way of playing them on Trocs machine or any other machine id be inclined to make some of my own to be honest
EDIT: Would like to add im mostly reffering to the HUNDREDS of edits ive seen that just abuse hands, ive only seen a handful of SERIOUS attempts at edits like i said

disconnected disco expert, while tha rekkid spins expert, energizer expert, and bend your mind expert are all doubles charts that give you ZERO chance to get ready for hands or transition out of them into standing, you just have to know they are there and play accordingly.
i'm sure there are examples on singles too, but since i dont like the vast majority of the cookie cutter expert charts i rarely play singles.

all of them EXCEPT for energizer expert give you ample time to hit their hands, i should know ive passed them all, you have to be aware hands are coming ill admit, but thats exactly the same concept as knowing about a bpm change coming up , its not going to fail you outright if you dont know about it , but it'll dent your life whilst you adapt to it!

Excuse me?
says a man thats clearly never played ITG in his life.
says a man that is either clearly making assumptions about others or is being sarcastic.
and for the record I tend to avoid ITG1/2 doubles charts because although the ideas are there they get old very quickly.

The only singles charts that come to mind that have these quick hands are Monolith Expert (pre-R5), Summer Speedy Mix Expert (which only appears once at the first stop) and VerTex^2 Expert.and for the record I tend to avoid ITG1/2 doubles charts because although the ideas are there they get old very quickly.

Nah, I enjoy hands where your feet hold freezes plenty. That's why the charts I've made have hands, though I've gone overboard on a few.Post #6659 · Posted at 2009-07-13 05:08:23am 16 years ago

I know I've made some charts with quick hands in them, but I really only do that with songs that have a BPM of around 130 or lower, because it's not much of a hassle to get the arrows. One exception is my HELL SCAPER -Last Escape Remix- Challenge chart, but it only happens in one spot.

I use hands sparingly (like in my Consuela edit), for the surprise factor and to emphasize the beat a certain way.
