the worst hot take I've ever seen
Half of DDR's games were reskins of one another, and that goes for nearly every BEMANI game out there also 2013/Ace got some interface changes in their respective lifespans so don't even worry about that Literally DDR (along with jubeat) is getting the most impressive treatment out of all the bemani games so far, GITADORA gets like two songs and that's it, EXCHAIN isn't considered an celebration, iidx has arc score but wasn't really advertised with 20th anniversary material otherwise (I never really expected Konami to celebrate iidx's 20th anniversary since there was nothing in cannon ballers besides overdoser's remix) and pop n' music peace was an sudden announcement and rushed out quickly
DDR on the other hand, got half a year's worth of events that are still active, an entire nonstop megamix devoted to the best hits and even included old licenses, an entire website with little sections and official merchandise, got DANCE RUSH to be made as an tribuite to DDR in it's 20th anniversary i.e. they created a new BEMANI series was made as an result, a new cabinet model, a new game that contains solely of new songs compared to Ace's initial songlist and none of them are nearly composed by the same artist either, replaced some assets like the grade font, and remixes of classic licenses
you think DDR has it bad, iidx has been using some of the same assets since 10th style or whatever calm down

Where's my Techno, Trance, and Eurobeat and why does every new song have to have a chart like The Way You Move from Universe 2?
half of the songlist would be considered to have trance elements (The Light just got added and that's like trance imo)
and Uni2 never had any chart that reached the levels of the recent boss song in A20
"Literally DDR is getting the most impressive treatment out of all the bemani games so far" This is a joke right? PLEASE elaborate will you? Because I don't see it.

I explained it all in that post but looks like you ignored it lmao (yes it's long but it's so that the argument is thorough and I didn't take up half an page at least no shade at Zowayix he really did tho but that's long ago)
also barely anyone is paying attention to all the other game's anniversaries
gitadora's way of celebrating it is adding two songs and that's it
IIDX has arc-score but otherwise the game wasn't confirmed to be an anniversary mix
jubeat festo and pop'n music peace are the only games that actually celebrated their anniversaries but festo is already long past that stage and peace was stealth while DDR got the most attention with news, teasing, events, merch, cabs, etc

I guess we're just too entitled because DDR X had new characters (not a lot but still), new announcer (even though it sucks), and we expected A20 to do the same, maybe bring back some old characters etc.
Post #644 · Posted at 2019-03-20 02:50:43am 6.3 years ago
in all honesty DDR x had hardware issues with sync, removed alot of Konami originals some of which seemed like there was no reason to, the x-specials were useless and generally trashy, an even uglier interface, and the new songs (excluding crossovers) weren't very appealing besides a few exceptions
other than that, all the changes x tried to make were done better in later mixes
A20 seems harmless on the other hand, and although there are downsides like the weird fonts, 11 songs at the start, and removal of X3 licenses, it's still promising and the reratings are accurate for the most part (which is good considering X's attempt to use the new scale was disaster)
also online updates are a thing, we have 50 songs each mix before but that was when e-amuse was smaller and the large amount at the start was to keep us waiting before any additional changes were made or when the next new mix came
they emphasized this when they released DDR 2013 and 2014

A new DDR mix used to mean 50 new songs right off the bat, but now we get 10, and that's if you can even play it at all. So, I can't say I'm surprised there's people complaining even though I don't agree. I'll be happy with anything new.
Is the extra stage system still using the stars and heat power?

The former, yes. The latter, not sure since EXTRA EXCLUSIVE is the only event available for now.Quote: DDR_Oshawott
Where's my Techno, Trance, and Eurobeat...?
May I remind you that U1-ASAMi is still on the sound director chair, so of course he's still going for the EDM route, if anything the new KO's and system BGM show.

A slightly longer look at ORCA
. Those speed changes are brutal, yikes
Also, a full (hopefully) list of difficulty changes can be found here.

Meh at least the music isn't NCS, but they should at least bring back the Lady routine.

Whoops.
Sure hope they would give the post-GRAVITY WARS players a chance to unlock them again.
Sure hope they would give the post-GRAVITY WARS players a chance to unlock them again.
I'm curious how that would be handled if they did that via another Floor Infection, since DDR's was originally three songs, but one of them has since been removed. Though when IIDX got a new Floor Infection after a rather long hiatus, the oldest two were shuffled off to CBS License unlocks instead (which the DDR equivalent would be whatever Extra Savior turns into, if it changes at all).

It is a improve that the 20th anniversary is only re-skin from previus version? We aren't conformist. I not consider a big change and it doesn't have big changes as happened with SN2 to X. (Interphace, presentation, announcer, dancefloor, characters) A to A20 is change from blue to gold.... and that's it.
I repeat we are seeing the same since 10 years ago.

Chances of that [the FLOOR INFECTION] happening would be very slim.
If you're gonna revive a FLOOR INFECTION, you might as well make a POLICY BREAK for it, too.
And as we all know, DDR (and DANCERUSH) doesn't have the latter yet for the past few years.

X had some major changes for sure but it was just supernova with an urban theme
A20 has more changes than you make it out to be
also, MAX2 and EXTREME were reskins of DDR MAX and EXTREME was released on the year of DDR's 5th Anniversary

It's called "quality over quantity", friend. It also used to represent a wide genre of music so if you didn't like one song you would still likely love others... just food for thought on why "quantity" is still important.

A20 is GOING to have bigger changes, like the courses. It's just a fucking awful update at launch.

Speaking of courses, they're back right? What songs do they consist of?
I know drill courses were confirmed; are nonstop courses and/or challenging courses back too?

Personally, it's not me being very optimistic either. I was hoping the "eh, just fucking throw it out and make it good as we go" mentality could be left in home gaming...
And courses nor the "global league" are in the game. They were advertised but apparantly Konami didn't see them important enough features to include at launch. Because fuck you.

but yes A20 feels bare bones at this point but by the end of it's lifespan we'll probably be satisfied at minimum
the whole update thing seems weird but it's so content can reflect changing times better, reduce costs since annual hardware replacements are expensive and it's what all the other bemani games are doing really, and BEMANI (traditional) CS releases are dead anyways
also maybe courses are there but no one has bothered to check idk
