If you choose the "turn" option, like left or right or mirror, do high scores count?

Yes, they still count.

What options prevent high scores from counting? I'm guessing Freezes off and Jumps off, or Cut on. Besides those three, are there any others?

Well wouldn't that be unfair, like Healing-D-Vision's crossover run?

Technically it does make some charts easier; but it'd be like calling RANDOM on beatmaniaIIDX cheating even though it can make some charts easier.

On the other hand, it can make some charts harder.

just like the x1 no bar argument, the game doesnt give a damn how you hit every note and hold every freeze, as long as you do it.

Not to mention, the death run in Healing-D-Vision is not really easier on Left or Right (and of course not on Mirror), at least not to me.

I'm not certain for myself if it's easier on Left/Right, since I need 1.25x to clear the Heavy chart, but I've seen a video of someone Full Comboing it on Left or Right.
IIDX Rank: SP 九段 (7/8)/ DP 七段 (5/8); 1P Side player
SP 11* Clears: 132/150 (88.00%); 12* Clears: 23/96 (23.96%)

The only HDVChallenge FC clear I've seen was on Mirror, actually. Most people find LDR crossovers easier than LUR ones, so starting the death stream with RDLDR feels easier than LURUL.

Using Left/Right would actually make it harder, as now you actually have to do a 180 degree spin and face backwards to step part of it, unless you doublestep.

What's everyone's opinion for Shuffle? Unlike the other three mods, it actually changes the flow of the steps.

Also, BROSONI FC'd DEGRS on Shuffle.

I guess left or right really wouldnt help, but I've seen a FC HDVChallenge on shuffle.
And BROSONI FCing DEGRS was also something else I was thinking of.
But I guess it's just another option on the list, so I can't really complain.

But speed mods don't change the stepchart, so I'm all for them, and the bar is there for a reason. Turning on turn actually changes the stepchart, so I think the option should be there, just don't save the scores, or make a different high score for each type of turn.

There are high scores, and then there are impressive feats. The game looks for high scores based on its criteria, just as you look for impressive feats based on your own. A 1x flat dark Bag AAA on SuperNova is more impressive to me than a 5x Bag AAA, but the score is the same. Even things that affect charts... what's more impressive, a PFC on a good shuffle of Second Heaven or a PFC of it without step mods? They're the same score, but depending on who you are, one may be more impressive than the other.

Scores are objective, while being impressed is subjective.

It's not like the player who is checking a high score is really going to know the person mfc'd Pluto Relinquished on stealth shuffle.

For all intents and purposes, most mods make mods charts harder (except speed mods). Speed mods are subjective to the player: someone may think Max 300 at 1.5x is insane where as someone may not be able to do well on Max 300 at 1x. Mods such as freeze and cut are reflected in the score (less steps, less score overall). Would it make people happier if the high scores showed the mods that were used to obtain it?

It would be insightful to see who uses what and when. But probably useless outside of a Groovestats setting.

I use mods when I play... the Classic arrow skin is a mod. Very Happy

I could AA HDV Challenge on Shuffle Big Grin I think it's easier than Normal.
(Shuffle hardest part for me is the zone before the spin)

I love you! I hope you guys finish the other songs like VD and roppongi ver. D soon!

As for the always present argument over turn mods and speed mods, I only have three things to say.

First, literally no one I know in asia (Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.) cares one bit if you used speed mods or turn mods to achieve a said score on a song. This seems to be a idea more popular in the West I've found.

Second, some of you already mentioned this but I'll say it again. To the machine, it doesn't matter one bit what you used to get a score as long as you hit the steps present at the correct time. The machine is indifferent to the your style of play. I'd even say Konami is indifferent to many aspects as well considering they don't have any quarrels with restricting high scores depending if you use certain mods.

Lastly, we all know what is better or not when it comes to judging scores by players. As in, if player A got a AAA on Bag 1x and player B got a AAA on Bag 8x note, we can all say they both AAAed it though instinctively we know which feat was harder to perform. And if you really are against turn mods and people getting high scores with them, would you tell someone who PFCed Max 300 on shuffle a cheater?

Okay, I guess it's similar to the bar and speed mods, which I both use.

it's like asking "do you consider using RANDOM on MEI ANOTHER cheating?" <--- I know off topic(I think even DOLCE plays MEI on RANDOM)

All I can say is you use modifers to tweak the game to your style. Modifiers can make the difficulty of a song/chart easier or harder.

Wow the movie is re-edit from those which were in DDRMAX to EXTREME

Other movie like POSSESION or Anti-matter has the re-edit movies.
yeah, but not only that. almost DDR X2 OST using re-edit movies.
(except the song with it's own movies, like Dazzlin Darlin', Shining, etc)
