Hmmm...all of a sudden a politics thread sounds like an interesting idea.
User ratings might take a pretty big plunge from it though...

They're all the same anyway.
consevative guy: OBAMA IS HITLER
liberal guy: WELL ACTUALLY OBAMA IS MAKING SIGNIFICANT STRIDES IN IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF AMERICAN HEALTH CARE (or whatever the current issue is)
conservative guy: WELL I WANT BUSH'
random anarchist: YOU ARE BOTH WRONG THERE SHOULD BE NO GOVERNMENT
everyone else: tl;dr

The way I understand it (I try my best to follow politics but am not the best at it), the arguements (on the less radical and stupid level) go like:
Conservative guy: Obama is causing the already high national deficit to go even higher with his extreme spending plans, which is gonna suck in the long run. If you just leave the economy alone, it will naturally come back up as prices are eventually forced to come back down. Also, he is redistributing wealth earned by higher class hard working people to benefit the lower class which is made up of people unwilling to do anything for society and live off government programs. This new health care plan also has sections that hint at the government controlling you choice of a doctor which will lead to several major problems.
Liberal guy: The increase in the national deficit caused by Obama's plans are bad but still required to get us out of this current economic slump. It will not fix itself if left alone and is just going to spiral down into another great depression. Also, the lower class is made up of (not necessarily lazy) people too and we shouldnt just say "forget them theyre lazy". The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and we should do something about it. Also, the health care plan being proposed says nothing about the things conservatives say they do.

No, it doesn't.
Seriously, every time I see a political thread appear in a forum, it leads to people going at each other's throats.

I don't expect too many people from here posting in it.
Maybe like 3 people who actually know politics and then a bunch of kids who scream political figure names to sound smart but actually have no idea what they're talking about.

Hmm...I try to be bi-partisan, but a good 65% of the conservatives I've talked to aren't. Thus enforcing the stereotype. The 35% that aren't use logic to prove a point and it usually makes sense where they got there opinion. But much of the 65% aforementioned are all like "My word is the truth and that's that" With either no logic or askewed logic.
I would vote conservative if I agree with their opinion, but some things some conservatives say makes me go "what in the red hell are they thinking?"

bipartisan doesn't mean both conservative and liberal. It means both Republican and Democrat. There are conservative democrats and liberal republicans. Very few, but they exist.

I know that, but generally conservatism is associated with republicans. I've met many conservative democrats. I consider myself a moderate democrat.Meh, dinnertime.

Okay, so what does that have to do with bipartisanship? You can't just assume republican = conservative.

But in the statement I responded to, you made the assumption that republican = conservative by replacing republican with conservative. At least that's the only conclusion I could come up with since bipartisanship doesn't have to do with political ideology.

One of which is the junior senator of the state of New York, Kirsten Gillibrand. Honestly, she's the first Conservative Democrat I know of...Post #6395 · Posted at 2009-09-29 06:18:38am 16.2 years ago

Well if that's the theory you came up with, then that's your theory. I made a mistake in choosing my words. There. That what you wanted me to say?In other news, I'm scared to walk home even though that gang fight happened nowhere near my house afaik.

That's why I don't even pretend to know politics. The most interest I've shown in politics in the last few years was
"Hey, who won?"
"Obama."
"Ahh."
