They've constantly improved the engine since EXTREME; X is truly the best its ever been in terms of scoring and other features. Well, X JP, that is, since it's quite heavily reliant on e-AMUSE. It's just that since SuperNOVA, they've been getting worse and worse at the "global release" idea and now they have a terrible cabinet with a rather uninspiring array of new songs, but still the best engine ever. If we can get SuperNOVA2 calibre song selections on X's engine with X style step charts, it'd be amazing. Also, let's have the game be worth playing outside Asia, please (e-AMUSE, cabinet quality, timing of release, etc.).

SN2 rocks in the fact they had the "classic songs" removed in X, better interface than SN1, marvelous, and great options.
Songs were good (bemani, licenses and new songs), good step charts (especially doubles), but half of the song ratings were all wrong. The upgraded SN dedicabs worked well (monitor, sond system) but the pads sucked unless you got new arrows from JP sellers like coin express and did a cardboard mod. SN2 pwns.
The location test X had a killer sound system, great pads (as good as ITG2 dedipads, at least the cabinet in Illinois did when I visited my aunt), o.k. songs (only 12 songs total) and a little HD lag. The lag wasn't as bad as some of the videos I have seen on the US release. Theme is o.k., but SN2 looked cooler aesthetically. Then Betson screwed it up.
Again. Personally I don't care about e-amuse (except I do want song unlock codes on time like extreme had.) Now we finally have edit mode, but who the hell knows how that will work.

Don't get my wrong people. I love DDR, that's why i'm so pissed off on X. DDR SN2 have the best KO songs in a DDR ever, is truth, plus the BGV are pretty cool : A Thing Called Love, Freeway Shuffle, Vem Brincar, Trip Machine Phoenix, Paranoia Hades, Unreal, and good crossovers. I just hope the next DDR installment have better theme and better songs, that's all.

I would like to try BMR's edit to A along with his V for extreme edit.
If some one has them stepped and would like to send me a DAT file I'd be more than willing to play them.

If anyone is interested, CoinOpExpress is selling several assorted dedicated arcade machines; several which include a JP DDR X machine for the price of $6,500 USD and a JP Supernova dedicated cabinet for $3,295USD. Not sure if the shipping is including, but it's probably worth checking it out.
How are they...quality-wise? Et cetera...
Know for sure that it's nowhere remotely near Betson quality. Not sure how I can compare it to, but if you've tried the location test DDR X pads when they came to California and Illinois, then that's how it feels.
Albeit, Not sure about the SN2. I haven't asked the regulars who ponder that arcade about the SN2 JP cab. It's worth looking into consider the pricing of these cabinets. This doesn't include shipping by the way.

Songs were good (....licenses......)
I gotta diagree, I still think X's licenses are better than SN2's. Out of all the SN2 cover songs, My Favorite Things and Two Months Off were the only ones that didn't make me want to rip my ears apart.
Seriously, I'd much rather play Happy and We've Got to Make it Tonight instead of Faint and Burn Baby Burn.

I'd have to say SN2 has better licenses. The only good song I can think of in X that's a licenses is Put 'Em Up.

Two Months Off is the only great license. Me Against the Music has nice steps and Sunrise is okay, but the rest are meh.
X has some pretty cool licenses, like Ghetto Blasta Deluxe, Reach Up, Wine Red, Put 'Em Up, We Come Alive, and Here it Goes Again (with neat charts for all of these to boot). They're a million times better than a good portion of Dancemania licenses. That era was ready to die when it did.
The X JP licenses are not quite as good, though (except Polyrhythm and Trickster).

I can never remember how the steps go because I'm watching the brunette in the top hat
Take A Chance and Playa were really catchy, along with Sound of Freedom. Ghetto Blasta's on my list for upcoming edits, too.
As for SN2, I thought Two Months Off sounded too repetitive. It's probably my bias from hearing the old poor-quality version when the game was getting loctested. On the other hand, I like Unbelievable for the spins. Me Against the Music is still my favorite, followed by Sunrise and either Ain't No Mountain or Angelus. Come Clean was fun too, as I recall.

God, yes. It's the only cover version ever in DDR that I've actually liked more than the original (except for maybe the Bus Stop version of Long Train Runnin'). Steps aren't bad, too. Also I can't believe that Wine Red isn't on the AC.

Those aren't licenses, though Playa might as well be since it's just Bill Hamel's remix of Britney Spears's Piece Of Me with new vocals and lyrics.I'm in the SuperNOVA2 camp; better licenses than X. My Favorite Things, TWO MONTHS OFF, ME AGAINST THE MUSIC are just totally awesome.
