Ok, I don't know how to explain this situation...

New Horizons / DJXYZ

Yeah, so this happened. Anyway, I'm responsible for both the song and chart, and there's no hiding that.
I'll admit these steps are pretty vanilla at points but that's never a bad thing, right?

Oh yeah, 2 more things.
@MRace- Glitch only applies to StepMania 3.95. It can't compute a warp. This was patched with the custom ZIP.
@Cuzco- I found your banner problem. The automatic naming mechanism renames the file to remove the -bn from the end of the file name, but doesn't alter the SM. So all you need to do is change the file name for the banner to include a -bn, and it's all fixed.

Is karaoke stepping okay, or is it a bad idea?

If by karaoke stepping you mean stepping to the vocals, then it should be okay to most people. Doesn't mean it's always the best sound to follow, but it shouldn't be wrong, most of the time. Sometimes the vocals aren't straight 8th/12th/16th notes though, so you might have to do some rainbow action if the singer is particularly wacky.

I would step whatever part of the song makes for the most interesting file, which could mean stepping the vocals or not stepping the vocals. It's something you should decide on a case-by-case basis.

I'm kind of late for this but I would like to use my first veto. I'm sorry for the submitter but, while the song itself isn't bad, I don't really know how to step it and make it enjoyable. >.<

Is there any reason not to upgrade to 5? It's a lot better than previous versions.
I might not be able to step much as life is starting to get in the way, but I like a lot of what was put out there this last week. Some good variety. Here are the ones that I liked the most:
Mind Your Own Business: +4
- looking at a wave editor, I'm pretty sure the yellow notes at 72s should also be 24ths
Naedine +4
- This is great! Nice to have something this unusual
- the slow section is a little tedious though, I sped it up for my own use
One More Time +3
- I don't like the gimmicks; I want my collection to be readable the first or maybe the second time through a song
Living in the City +2
Licca +2
A couple other random notes:
Posin' - isn't this song swing timing?
Zetsubousei - I don't think the 12ths fit
TOTALS
licca [brunobg24] - 13
Living In The City [Gameoson] - 13
너나 잘해 [Telperion] - 13
VELFARRE 2000 [Loodee] - 12
Наедине [Lisek] - 10
いただき! 桃色ゾンビにあん [xXMokou98Xx] - 7
TSAR BOMBA [mf32892] - 7
Time again [usaminseijin] - 4
One More Time - 3
Youkaisai Sandou -Oriental Swing [CuzcoBlocko] - 3
$$$EX [chewi] - 3
Zetsubousei Hero Chiryouyaku [MRace2010] - 2

I feel more at home with 3.9. Many of the themes that exist are...just not my type. The default one gets old after a while. Also, I already have complete simulations available in 3.9 (DDRMAX3, beware's DDR extreme, etc.). If I start seeing this stuff for Stepmania 5 (particularly DDR Extreme US/DDRMAX2 simulations), I might switch over, but for now, I'm not ready to abandon 3.9.
If you recommend playing a specific file (e.g. songs with warps/rolls/etc.) on Stepmania 5, I can certainly do so. I downloaded 5.0.10 a few weeks ago. As Gameoson specified, I put his FIGHT! file in my SM5 directory and played through it as it was supposed to be. With the visual tricks.
Sadly, the file had many glaring doublesteps.

There's no double-steps in FIGHT! at all. What you're most likely confusing for double-steps are actually footswitches, which are marked off with easy-to-dodge mines.

The quarter note just before the gallop is stepped with your right foot, but then you hit the 16th with your left foot. Lots of files have done this kind of thing before including official DDR charts; UNBELIEVABLE (Sparky Remix) and Wadatsumi (which has a very distinct set of footswitches and the end of the file) come to mind.

Footswitches are the things Junko used in his Jumper file (or what looked like triple steps), right? Those are a little hard for me to pull off.
I guess to maneuver through that part easily, though, it'd be like...

Alternatively, you can be adventurous and do this;

These methods can also cancel out some doublesteps in general.
Actually, I find the mines that indicate when to do footswitches are a good idea. I wondered what those were doing there. It would be easily to get twisted because there are cases where it's not immediately obvious what are footswitches or what is just bad stepping.

Not sure what you mean by triple steps, but Junko did sorta kinda use footswitches in Jumper. They weren't used well, mind you, but they were used. Quote: CuzcoBlocko

*examples*
The intention isn't to add your own ghost steps. After hitting the first Up with your right foot, you'd do a sort of skip in the air and land back on the second Up with your left foot (with the right foot landing on the Right arrow to complete the gallop).*examples*

I'm terrible at foot/finger switches, so that's what I do whenever footswitches are intended to be used. I played through your file a couple more times and, with the exception of one part, I got through it all without double stepping.
For the double-step ridden files, I'll probably edit my personal copies to have mines indicate where I have to pull off "footswitches" too and see how I can maneuver through dodgy patterning without my flow being messed up.

I actually hate when mines are used to indicate footswitches, because 1) I thought this was something you're supposed to figure out yourself; at least I never needed any of those mines to know when to footswitch in UNBELIEVABLE (Sparky Remix), Windy Fairy, etc., and 2) there should always be more than one way to play the exact same chart anyway, and these type of mines limit that.

I don't agree at all. I don't see why the player should have to figure something like that out on their own, when mines can help clear things up. Even after playing a file, there's no guarantee that the player will remember where the footswitch is. I can see why you perhaps wouldn't want to use mines on consecutive 16th footswitches, as they can make a bit of a mess in high quantity, and 16th footswitches are usually really easy to spot. 8th footswitches are different though; a pattern of 8ths that goes LUUR can just as well be meant as crossovers and not footswitches, and signalling footswitches with mines can really help the player distinguish between the two.
And I don't see why there has to be more than one way to play the same chart either. It might work for some files, but other files can only really be played in one way (minus small things such as deciding which way to face in certain UD jumps), unless you want to double step or something.
Edit: If you want to ghost step or double step certain sections of songs, that's obviously fine, but I don't think that it's a good reason to avoid using mines to communicate to the player

Mines can be used for a lot of crafty purposes other than "don't step on this arrow at this part". Spork!'s Silly Ho file uses them to indicate when the song BPM doubles for stylistic purposes.
I bet I can also use them for a lot of crafty purposes, but I haven't got a... "diverse" song yet. My current file, I think only goes as far as 5-note 32nds streams for the
chart (record scratching), but other than that, it's DDR-accurate.

Wow, I finally placed. Thanks everyone who voted for me.
I've been really busy because next week is my final exam week, but I should have my Round D votes and Round E file uploaded today. Also, I KNEW that DDRDAIKENKAI submitted Who Are You, it had his name written all over it
.
As for $$$EX, I wasn't sure if it was a 9 or 10. But I really need help rating it on the X Scale. So if anyone has any idea let me know, I put 14 but I was iffy on that.

Did you also notice you had a hand in all 3 of the top 3? :P I find that pretty amusing. Looks like Round C was your lucky round.
