Last Saturday, when I went to Latitude 30, the X2's pads there were pretty damn awesome and the best I've played on so far besides one dropped arrow out of the 30 songs I played. I'm going back tomorrow morning and I'll update you guys if they completely went to crap or if they are still going strong.

Wait whoa wtf?

Round1 had an X2 Tournament? When did this happen? Neutral

Also, Wow, 3 to 4 times having to be fixed throughout the day? ....either you guys are murdering the machine or i guess the pads really can be messed up more sooner than we thought Confused

I wonder if this is an appropriate place to post this since it kinda regards possibilities of tampering with the pads and hardware.

Basically a lot of you have probably heard of the player MACK1102 in Japan. I've also met him once personally. Anyways I recently found out that a fair amount of people doubt his scores because no one has seen him preform those songs. Most notably his scores on DEGRS (995xxx) Hades Challenge (1 great) and several others. Here's a couple of those.

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn80/DDRD573/DDR%20X2%20New/DSC01329.jpg

So when I asked how is it possible to "cheat" on X2 I was told he probably used a controller or keyboard to get them. This would suggest its possible to rewire the pads.

Anyways, I found it interesting and thought I'd post it here to see what you guys think.

There was a LOT of problems with the pads, and they had to have some guys come and fix them 3 or 4 times. The worst was with the P2 down arrow, and towards the end the P1 left arrow. Might be back there tomorrow night (so i can use the card i won), and ill report any further problems with the machine.

To be fair, some players played like they were trying to cause earthquakes. (Also, it went better than 2009 Vegas regionals, that I remember....)

Might start uploading stuff tonight, but might have to wait until tomorrow. I have some problems on my hands regarding drunk people... damn college life Sad

Would be pretty sweet if someone set up a heavy-duty controller or keyboard and added a bunch of keyboard charts, haha.

A SuperNOVA in Malaysia has some pretty suspicious scores. Like an all-Marvelous AAA on Brilliant RED Double/Expert? Hax.

supernova?

Do you mean SN2? SN doesn't have marvelous timing in regular play.

I dont know where I stand on the hacking/cheating to be honest. I hope his scores are legit and we are making progress on the harder songs. It will be disappointing to find out if he has in fact manipulated the game in some way for scores.

I also heard that the people who have added him as a rival notice most of his other scores are mediocre compared to the stuff I've said.

If I was an average player, and I wanted to set a ridiculously high score on a Doubles song, I'd play on the 1P side, and find another average player to stand on the 2P side, then both AAA the song together. You're both pretty much AAAing a song on Single Trick.

@Dr.D : Well, if his other scores do not measure up to the ones questioned, I think that should confirm your suspicion. If your theory is true, this would be the first time I heard of someone rewiring the input to a keyboard.

In theory it sounds like 2 players playing doubles would stand a better chance at getting a higher score, but in practice, it is usually harder to achieve high scores doing that do to the lack of "flow" for each player. This is especially true when it comes to hard and technical songs. I know this first hand. If you ask me and 513 to play max 300 together and then both of us play it once alone, I can almost guarantee the playing alone scores will be higher.

Ah, you mean the stuff from this thread back in November?

http://yuzuru.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/otoge/1288930827/

The accusations start flying around Post #170

Well, all I know about Mack1102 are his placements on the IR for SN2/X/X2 (not particularly high (i.e. "Essential" on difficult on X2. He tied for 66th place). He is known as "まくぅ" (Makuu) locally. He makes a handful of edits and also plays in the local tournaments (does pretty well from the looks of it; semi-finalist in many cases. He won a few of the ones in the SN2 days). He lives and plays in Wakayama, where there aren't many DDR machines at all, and plays at an arcade "ピタゴラスMQ" (Pitagorasu MQ). The only known video of him on nico douga was a 970k run on Faxx Heavy according to that thread/link above.

Japanese players are far too low-tech for any kind of tampering on the machine level, but who knows? I can't imagine an arcade allowing players to tamper with their machines (that also voids the warranty), but again, who knows.

If this is all an elaborate ruse, theoretically he might just have inside info. on the eAmuse network and can send random scores from him PC for all I know (or from his arcade through over the eAmuse network hookup there). The common accusation around mixi and 2ch is that he used stepmania or a keyboard input somehow, but nobody seems to know for sure. The only players that have seen him reported scores not so high. Well, AAs, but nothing like the AAAs on 18 footers or anything of the like.

No, it was a SuperNOVA. A SuperNOVA imported from Japan at that. I had forgotten that you can't have Marvelouses outside of courses. Nonetheless, several records set on Double/Expert were 100% and the songs that had them were completely random difficulty-wise.

I was looking at the video of Valkyrie Dimension Wero took and played by 513.

Mack1102 has a score of, I think, 0965060 with a letter grade of AA.

Did he really pass this song?

Doesn't SN1 give 100% for all Perfects, not all Marvelouses?

SuperNOVA only has MARVELOUS in NONSTOP and CHALLENGE courses.

So yes, a AAA in SuperNOVA is 100% during normal play.

There were four significant things I noticed today.

1) Smooooch was the ONLY song that I had so many misses on when I knew I could AAA the entire chart. This also gave me trouble last time as I got an N.G. and my friend also had some random drops during freezes on this. None of the other songs seem to do that. Maybe lag issues with the video? For everything else, I don't know if there is a slight HDD lag or it is just the new timing windows.

2) Some of the other videos seemed to be of low quality like Second Heaven and Sakura's. You could see that the quality was blurry, but thers like Zero were perfectly fine quality-wise.

3) OMG THE PADS SURVIVED 3 WEEKS! No issues with the pads besides smooooch. My friend and I were really happy about this. I still need to get used to playing on them aside from Supernova's dedicab. >_<

4) I also managed 1 great on Dazzlin' Darlin and got to play the remix. HYPE! Big Grin (including dancing Daisuke on the original to troll watching passerby) Remixes continue to stay in the song selection even if you pick another song after unlocking the remix via AAAing the original.

It doesn't look like they bothered to optimise them for HD or widescreen. Check out the first part to She is my Wife's background, that's not a nice sight. i can't say i've seen Zero played on an X machine before, so i'm curious to check it out now though.
i guess it's not that big a deal, but it makes for a video that's not exactly pretty to look at when played on a dedicab.

There is nothing wrong with smooooch, as evident by the scores we've achieved at Round1. Kiri_No_Haku, if everything else on your machine is fine, as you say, then I find it highly unbelievable that a single song is affected by some kind of software or hardware problem.

Yeah, that's definitely possible. On my worse days, I've FCd Possession Expert with a bare AA (950xxx) and have actually passed it with an A with a couple misses and a bunch of greats. In the RDA course, VD always gave me the most greats by far, even on standard. An AA with 965xxx and no misses isn't that hard to achieve if you are having a bad run PA wise.

I just found it weird that it was the only one that did it. Maybe it was just coincidential, but so far that was the only chart that I had dropped freeze arrows and misses. Hell, I played Super Samurai on sightread today and still didn't get 5 misses like I did on Smooooch when I KNEW I hit those arrows. I'll see what happens next time I go...
