Remember now, there are no such things as "upgrades" for X and X2 in America, it's new cabinet or bust!

There's a good reason for that Lam. Which out of those 3 mixes is actually of a decent standard to most people?

I'm just saying. Tongue

Yeah, this is another hard selling point. I mean my arcade had the chance to upgrade to SN2, but they didn't. Now the only way to upgrade to the most recent mix is buying a whole new cabinet. Not something they can easily shell out.

I really think Konami made a bad move by not providing upgrades this mix.

Then again since I live in a large metropolitan area that gives me better chances, we still have a handful of SN2s in the area, and even now they seem pretty scattered across the country.

I think there's only a one or two X cabinets here, but then again perhaps people were smart once they realized all the faults that came with them.

I forgot you could not upgrade to X2...dang.
If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it.

Actually, they haven't said there were no upgrades for X2, in fact, we're still pretty sure X->X2 upgrades will be released. All it needs is software.

There's a good reason why they won't release SN2->X upgrades: There's Asian, Japanese and US hardware configurations all over the states. It's either try to make a "fit all" situation for all cabs (incredibly insanely hard to do) or just make people start from scratch by getting a machine that's more reliable (as of X2).

There were some things I noticed, but you all probably already know:

-dead camera = couldn't take any pictures or vids T_T
-It felt so different from playing on the Supernova dedicabs I'm used to. It felt like there was lag, but I think it is just because the timing windows of X2 are different. I also noticed one of the screws is already gone from 1P side. The lines were long, but there were actually a lot of expert DDR players there mixed in with the casual newbies.
-BeForU revivals
-ALL MY LOVE, Decade, Sky Is The Limit, Wh1te Ro5e, aftershock!, Dummy, 888, dirty digital, sakura storm, Your Angel, and Pluto the First were NOT unlocked, so I'm guessing there will be some codes in the future. Hell, if they use card readers like Dave and Busters, why can't they just get eAmuse? Hell, so many people were playing that they would definitely make enough money off it it.
-THE VOLUME WAS SOOOOOOO LOWWWWWWW!!!!!11!11!!one!1!1 DX
-Courses were a tad bland and I could only play Fire Fire or Sky Is The Limit on difficult, which made me mad.
-Chinese Nijiiro is there
-Fixed Second Heaven oni and expert charts were there
-USB YEEEEESSSSSSHHHHHH
-Most of the crowd left when I was acting homo while playing Dazzlin' Darlin' (troll time)
-There's an icon for shock arrow charts on the cover for the song
-Can't pick chars like in Supernova 2 T_T
-You could easily see all of the prints on the pads unlike the older ones
-Bar was way too far back and way too short......are we asian?
-LOVED THE CUBBY HOLES that started from X
-Is the side of the machines supposed to have a sticker of afro dancing? It made me think that it could be an upgrade from X because aren't Emi and Rinon supposed to be on the side?

I'm going back next Sunday, so give me a list anything you want me to try or check out. I know I'm going to bring my USB next time. I hope the first unlock code comes soon because I am really hype about going back.

I've played on the one at Sheppard, it was still an Extreme with nothing unlocked. Phase II was at Wright-Patt which was cool because Ohio had an abundance of DDR/ITG/PIU machines. But yeah, Keesler, not so much. There isn't even one on base! Maybe I should see if the Beau Rivage casino will upgrade their SuperNOVA to a DDR X2 as well as Cypress Lanes.

Sheppard's used to be $1/3 songs before I suggested they lower it Tongue
It never hurts to suggest!

And holy crap, there's USB ports? Wasn't there a big fiasco about us getting SD cards instead?

Well, everytime you put credits in, it asks you to connect a USB if you wish to, and there is one USB slot on each player's side just next to the screen. Look at the picture of the machine at Jax, FL's X2 machine back on page 313 and 312. You see those little holes on the sides of the screen? That's where the USBs are.

For what its worth, you might be able "unlock" real high speed and in love wit you on your current credit when you insert a USB drive.

I saw that happen on the asian DDR X2 cab I play on.

EDIT: and yes, the step editor needs updating for DDR X2.

I noticed varying lag on the X2 in Bama and wondered if it was just cuz of the early build or not. Dazzlin Darlin was noticably late, where as Paranoia Evolution seemed spot on. I did have to adjust my playing a bit. Maybe there IS lag in the machine as others have reported it as well.

YES! Some songs like Tenshi were quite alright, but others like Dazzlin' Darlin' and Second Heaven felt as if they were late.

I went ahead and added Latitude 30 to the machine locations feature.

I still can't figure out why they downgraded from 4th plus to extreme. Now if I ever go back as an instructor I won't have a glorious old school DDR game to keep me occupied Sad

Anyway, a buddy of mine facebooked that he was playing X2 so I'm asking him where it is, it appears AZ has one somewhere.

The card readers have NOTHING to do with e-Amusement. They are all wired (Or now wirelessly) networked into the stores central server. They are 300% totally different systems.

Side art hasn't changed from the X cabinets.

Tonight was awesome at Round1, pretty much a gathering of all the "regular" "good" players, minus JJK (maybe he showed up after 11pm, iunno - had to leave). We finally added a score to roppongi EVOLVED ver. B (thanks PHN!X), so now only ver. C and D remain unpassed...
(I got ver. D 2/3 times tonight. i continue to be the magnet of bad luck / ver. D)

That reported sticky P1 left arrow was apparently taken care of quite well by the techs. I feel like P1's side is much better than P2's side now. (I feel like P2's right arrow may be oversensitive)

It's either try to make a "fit all" situation for all cabs (incredibly insanely hard to do) or just make people start from scratch by getting a machine that's more reliable (as of X2).

Whereas unless an arcade imported, there's just the officially released in the states Betson SuperNOVA/2 cabinet would could have handled an upgrade just fine.

It's clear why Konami tries to force arcade owners to do away with their old imported and bootlegged machines and the technical limitations is not it. The Asian X upgrade kit will convert everything from an old Asian 1st to a Japanese SuperNOVA 2 (Which is precisely what I saw them do in Malaysia, one arcade converted a genuine, fully unlocked Japanese EXTREME complete with original cardboard flaps... oh the humanity). Because the system changed so radically, the upgrade kits require you to gut whatever cabinet you're applying it to. The only hardware you might experience trouble with is European cabinets, rigged for different voltages.

TBH the only thing you'd really need to do to upgrade Extreme and earlier cabs is to bung in a SuperNOVA EXT-IO interface board and a monitor that supports 31.5kHz horizontal refresh (Bog standard VGA in other words.)

My hunch is that Konami sells DDRX and X2 only as new cabs for the US and European markets to get them to bin their bootleg cabs (of which 99% of all Extremes are) and maybe ITG2.

Also, not sure about European cabs but I know for a fact that Korean ones have a 230-100V step down transformer to run everything off 100V internally.
