Also there does need to be a z-i-v Greatest Moments thread. Or even a z-i-v user wiki.
I agree. That should be an interesting thread and a guide for future users on who and what not to be.

Is it possible to check the IP of Mortalboy?

It may be possible that it is the same person as Joshuastep and Joshuaisback, considering their first post is a request in DMAxel's simfile topic, the information they have listed matches with the corresponding info on Joshuaisback (though it's only Gender and Country), and their registration date is a day after the last post of Joshuaisback.

This assumption may be wrong though, since both accounts have recent actions.

Well, they all have links of some sort to each account. The evidence does really show that too. I second your opinion on having an IP check on that user.

BINGO! Ban evasion for Joshua.

Edit: This user has less than -100 points, and still didn't say "Banned" yet.

I wonder if it's possible to stamp the IP address used on a users first login on the user account and users that register get their IP address compared to the list of IPs that have an account. Is my idea even possible?

Seconded - although this will probably have to wait for -6th style-. I'm not the technical expert on the structure of the database.
Could you clarify whether you intend to have the system automatically reject attempts by one IP address to register more than one account, or is this only something like CheckUser to be used for investigation after the fact? How do we take into account the use of dynamic IP addresses by most ISPs?

There's always a case where there are two users in a house, with the same IP, so yeah. It's not a very good idea.

I reckon matching IP's or email addresses would be grounds for auto-banning. Alternatively a Registration approval system like DDRUK's might be an idea...

Auto-banning on the same IP is a bad idea; multiple users can share one IP.

Registration approval seems like a lot of extra work for Al and whoever else would approve; I don't think we've had such horrendous returning users that it's really warranted. They usually stroll in, derail a thread for a page, drop some hilarious lines, and get re-banned. Perhaps there can be a flag to notify the staff to keep an eye on a user for a bit if they share an IP with a banned user, but it's not a good idea to take action on that alone.

What about autobanning when a user hits -100? Currently it's done manually afaik..

Due to the relatively small amount of people reaching -100, it's no problem to do it manually at the moment. And I said before, the auto-ban when -100 thing bugged up before.

Who was crystela, and why was he (she?) banned? I noticed that the majority of his 11 posts were off-topic bumps, so is that why?

And what about this guy?

concurred. i got banned from gamefaqs because my brothers are stupid so they banned all accounts created at that IP. the thing that pissed me off was i hadn't lived at my moms place in like 2 years when the ban hammer fell on me because of them Sad

He made crappy custom BGs, which we all ranted. That made him act suicidal (silly). Then he hit -100 and got banned.
