Can someone give me a quick breakdown of how limelight unlocks/points work? I've been using the classic theme, mainly because I can actually read everything. Can you not get any of the new stuff without using the limelight theme?

I'm pretty sure this is the first pack where it's all limelight unlocks. Cool.

Correct. Classic theme can only unlock original customize items. If you are having visual problems, try setting the bg brightness to zero.

The unlock systems are independent of each other and they are indeed only backwards-compatible (Classic unlocks work in limelight but not vice-versa). If you have already unlocked everything in the original theme, then it's in your best interest to play the limelight theme so you can get first play bonuses. In any case, the unlock system is very much more freeform than the original. You gain lime points in 4 categories:

Participation - Always 1 lime for your troubles
Grade - Maximum of 3.0 if you get an AAA+, decrementing by .5 per passing grade
Combo - 2.0 for a FC, 1.5 for 1 miss, 1.0 for 2 misses
Special - 10.0 for First Time play of a chart, 10.0 for winning against a random Pastel-kun battle, and 20.0 for winning against a random Evil-kun (?) battle

After you've gotten sufficient limes (you can see this on the result screen by swiping the result box), tap the purple settings button on the music select, then tap the yellow button (Customize/カスタマイズ). On the screen that pops up, there's a little magenta button on the top right (Shop/店舗). Tap that, and you'll see a selection of customization options to unlock. Simply tap one of them and confirm (if you have enough limes), and you'll unlock the item and deduct from your lime total.


Judging by his USA location, I'm pretty sure when he said he could "actually read everything" on the Classic theme, he meant that because it's in English versus limelight theme's Japanese interface.

Thanks so much! Now it kind of sucks that I've already played all the songs I have, haha Also, yes I was referring to the fact that limelight is all in Japanese.

Well, do remember that the first time bonus is per chart, not per song. If you're needing some quick points, go for a BASIC marathon like I've done for the past few unlock sets. There are some songs with surprising difficulty even on that level, and you can greatly appreciate the music more than if you were playing on the higher levels.

Oh, awesome! I'm planning on getting some more packs soon as well. If you could buy individual songs for 125 yen as opposed to 500 for a 4-pack, I would have tons of songs. There are just too many packs where I only like 1 or 2 songs and it's not worth it to me.

Also, I have no problem playing on basic, haha. I'm still pretty new to this game. I just started clearing 8s and 9s (and not with very great scores ).
