I am SO sick and tired of getting roppongi Ver. B. Its getting out of hand. Its not fun at all. I have about an 80% chance of getting Ver. B very time I pick roppongi. I have been really unmotivated to play encore anymore cause I never seem to get C or D. I see that yindesu answered his own question (btw, how, Boss rush course or a picture?). I have played ver. D VERY few times and the best i've done yet is 993,xxx. I'm sure I'll improve that if I ever get more opportunities to play it.

I feel you there Dr. D. It is extremely annoying not to get the version you want. When playing DDR X2 (PS2), I never wanted A or B. I always screamed "WHY DON'T THEY JUST LET US PICK WHICH VERSION WE WANNA PLAY!?" I always wanted C.

If they did that, there'd be no point in having multiple versions. Not knowing which one you're playing at first is part of the Encore Extra Stage gimmick. They should have allowed you to choose after unlocking for normal play though. If it weren't for the random choice though, I probably would have never beat it, since I've only cleared version C, the exact version I thought I'd stand no chance at clearing.

Yeah they can leave it unknown at first. But after a while, they should allow the player to choose.

Dr.D, there's no way America can have Boss Rush X2 yet lol. I'm not touching course mode until we get the (real) ones with Expert charts.
I can't read 680bpm x 2.5, what do you do when you do EES?

I don't believe any of the arrows are at 680 BPM, are they? I thought that arrows were in the 340 BPM part.

uh yeah you might be right. Still, I kept failing my first 3 or 4 EES's because I was doing bad at 1.5x, which is why I switched to 2.5x like I do on KIMONO PRINCESS... sigh
I actually failed a roppongi EVOLVED on the 4th step - got a good (first 3 were marvelous).

"TAKING IT TO THE PIE" |
The DDR X2 in Alabama is version 20101006. There is no drift on the machine but a good chunk of songs seemed slightly early. I was able to get Kimono Princess by AA every song, but I had to play it on Difficult.
I noticed that either Chaos on the radar doesn't reflect non quartwr or eigth notes or they got it wrong in a lot of songs. Songs with no Chaos were give some Chaos on the radar.
There was never an issue with the pads. They didn't feel more drain ing (played for 3 hours with no one else touching the machine).
There was no Challenge chart available for Nijiiro or even iFuturelist.

well, I guess that makes the machine not-final then, since Round1 has 20101207 or so..
What did Funplex have? I thought on YouTube Funplex's machine still said "LOCAL MODE" and still had the e-Amuse numpads. Can you confirm that Alabama did not have either?

No numpads and it was on local mode. I actually wonder if fthis was the showcase cab at the arcade conventions. The pads felt harder than X and were barely recessed.

Did you maybe take pictures of the pads? (I didn't take pictures of Round1's pads yet.. maybe I should.)

No pics of the pad. I can say that with my new shoes I coulm't feel the recession in the arrows unless I stood on them and rocked back amd forth

well someone already said it but ya, it only goes up to 340 so if you were on x2 it's be 680bpm scrolling rate. To answer your question I play it on x2. I'm not sure if this helps you or not but a little advice to know which version you have before the song starts. Over here its very easy. Every time the song starts I just look at my record or the WR and I can which version it is. My suggestion would be remembering the records on the machine there (btw does the records show before the song starts?) and then adjusting your speed before the song starts.
coincidentally I got ver. D my first try today. I was happy about that. (though after that I got ver. B twice in a row...)

According to the owner of the Alabama machine, as I live there as well, it was the "first one in America" and someone mentioned that it was a 'used brand new" brand new machine, which leads me to believe it would be one of the convention test versions. The panels are not quite as flat as the X machine, but definitely not *really* recessed. I've also gotten Kimono Princess on Extra stage, cleared it AA on Basic because I was forced to play that once with a low footer total. I also played it on Difficult with around a 30 footer total. I just assumed Heavy would be something I didn't get like over 35 or something.
I don't know what is/isn't unlockable on the machine, but I'm fairly certain the *some* things have been unlocked since when I first played it up until I last played it, there were more songs, but I could have just been wrong or missed them? Specifically, I don't recall Hero, Captain Jack, etc when I first played the machine, but noticed them the next time some days later. What makes me doubt the version of the machin is the lack of oni versions of songs such as You are a Star, which I thought was a default unlock. I dunno about the version number information (didn't look) but I do know there are no e-amusement keypads, just a place for them.

Any machine that has the 20101207 version should be deemed as the final DDR X2. Any that are not that version should be deemed as a location test version.

I was actually there yesterday and the software version you guys have is definitely not final (20101006 is your version, final is 20101207). The songs you mentioned (Hero, Captain Jack, etc) are default songs. Nothing unlocks over time.
I tried to AAA If You Were Here and Dazzlin' Darlin but the slight off-sync in Dazzlin Darlin Kept throwing me off. There was no Nijiiro Challenge and iFuturelist's Challenge chart was unselectable.

With that in mind, I have remarked DDR X2 EU release back to TBA.

Wait, what's happening? Are you holding down buttons which make the arrows look like they're being pressed or something?
I'm confused.
