I think being small (not too small) is not bad for doubles. There arent any real stretches a big person can do and a smaller can't in DDR. So i'd even say its better cause its easy to move more freely on the pad.
I've always thought it to be the other way around lol. I used to think being shorter (5'7") caused me to have a disadvantage. All the really good doubles players in my area are hitting 5'10" and above. Though that's not really tall, it's taller than me. But I agree with how it's a lot harder to keep rhythm when going from one pad to another. When I play singles, I raise my arms up and back a bit and it allows me to keep much better rhythm and I can turn a lot faster if i keep my arms close to my body. In doubles, if you do this, it makes it very hard to move across the pad a fast speed as this stance only allows for quick short movements. Whenever i have to move across the pad, I bring my body down a bit, lower my arms and play on my toes. This allows me to at least hit the steps with a great or better. I'm learning to switch between the two positions, depending on what the steps call far. Like Afronova Primeval, when start on the right side of the pad, I'll do the singles stance, then as I cross the pad and come backwards, I play on my toes so I can quickly get to the other side, bring my arms together for the turn and go back to my toes to move back across the pad. It's very tricky and I've slipped a few times doing this, but it's how I'm able to get through half of Arrabiatta doubles without the bar

I believe one of the local arcade owners around my area was planning on buying a DDRX, but due to the reviews surrounding the cabinet he's not bothering. Apparently they sometimes pay attention.

I'm 5'4" and have no problems moving from one pad to the other.

I'm 5'11". When I started playing doubles a bit over a year ago, the pad changes were the hardest part, because I'd get spatially confused and hit the wrong arrow. Now I'm fine with it, but some of the more technical crossovers are still difficult.
Height matters more when you play a stretchy chart, but I can't think of any really stretchy charts in DDR.

The only stretchy charts I can think of are the club mix songs, the light charts from 5th and earlier and Make A Jam Heavy

Gentle Stress Sexual Mix, So Deep to an extent, Stargate Heaven (Future love mix), Mars Wars, are a few I consider to be stretchy. I consider stretchy any step that has go moving from one side to the other that's not connected with left and right in the middle, such as P1 Left Down P2 Left. I basically say that because you'll never see anything like Up/Down from one side going to Up/Down to the other side cept for Disney Mix's one song (Donald Duck March or something like that?)

Talking about stretchy songs, there are some 1P Down to 2P Up 8ths in Midnite Blaze Doubles, and iirc there's also a Down Down Jump in Share My Love doubles (imo has some of the stupidest bits of a doubles chart in any song i've played on DDR, btw)

I see a P1 down to P2 down, but I don't see an down to up side switch in 8ths in Midnite Blaze. Share My Love doesn't have the down down jump either, unless they're on non-expert charts.

I do hope you're looking forward to doing those 8th spins at 300 bpm silenttype01. Because nobody else is looking forward to that crap.Post #6152 · Posted at 2009-06-20 12:42:43am 16 years ago

you don't spin on that part. Start the stream with your left foot. That's how he failed. He instinctively started the stream with his right because of the position the freeze arrow put him in.

I thought the second set of 5 after the freeze was the same as the first the first two times I watched it, but now that I've paused it, I see that it's the inverse, so yes, you could do it without turning a full 360. But it's still a really brutal turn.
Anyone else notice that on that chart, you have to hold the freeze through the stop, where before you could step off the freeze?

Dont worry guys, I know what to do at the freeze now. Silent is right, start with your left foot and do sort of a half spin which will be repeated going to other way on the next set.
We will get it dont worry, as for AA to get candy... we will see about that...

Talking about stretchy doubles charts, I think everyone's forgetting about DYNAMITE RAVE ("AIR" Special) doubles with those jumps. 1P UP + 2P UP.

DBHxgiga92: Yes I got your PM. As soon as I got it I tried contacting my friend in HK for 2 days but had no luck. Sorry to say but I forgot about it after that. Thanks for reminding me, I'll try to get in contact with my friend so you can send your edit data.
Thanks for that. In that time one edit has become three, and I'm tempted to throw in my edits for the SABER WINGs, KAKUMEI, and one more mystery song as well.

1P UP + 2P DOWN is cake for me. But it is a stretch, and I was not aware of the DYNAMITE RAVE ("AIR" Special) doubles chart. Now if you want to see stretches, look up Wi-Ex-Doc-Va Nightmare on PIU. Opposite corner 16th runs at 195 bpm.
