Z-I-v Summer Contest 2016

A question regarding this week's theme:

I am currently composing a song that has its BPM wavering between 125-160. I'm also planning to include a one-time change to 178 BPM that lasts 2 full bars (according to FL Studio), then bringing it back to below 160. Is the scroll of all the changes taken into account as a whole for that 80% criteria (excluding that one-time change)?

So since I haven't been able to catch up with simfles for the past few weeks, does this mean I can't vote on simfiles for the previous week, or for simfiles this week?

You can't vote for any of the Week 2 or Week 3 files, as the deadline for voting has passed. Otherwise you'd potentially change the rankings that have already been determined from everyone else's votes.
The voting period for Week 4 - [Voiceless Week] just started so you can play those and vote for your favorites. At this point in time, Week 4 is the only week you can vote on.

As far as I know, everyone can throw their votes. For participants that submit something for a week, they must throw a vote for that week.

Since you're saying you missed the past few weeks, I think you can throw a vote for this week but it's not a must.

I believe the total points are calculated at the end of the season, so you won't get those if you don't vote.

That said, if your file doesn't get any votes then voting is pretty much pointless.

I think you should vote regardless if you place in the top 3, get points, or not. After all, it is fun to find out which simfiles this week are your favorite and how your simfile compares to them!

Still have a few files to play, but expect votes within an hour!

I can really tell people put in work for these charts.

One thing I noticed:
For jump notes, some people did not make it clear what foot was to go afterwards. Charts like III, Aurora, Borealis, and Mitotsudaira are examples, where if the jump was an RU, the next step was D, which makes me question if I'm supposed to use my right or my left foot.

I admit, when I first encountered this trick, I was just as confused as you. But this is how to do that part (and the similar part at b76.500);



The song's high BPM allows you to be able to tap the roll every quarter note and be okay (it doesn't work at, say, 130 BPM). So all you have to do is hit the down arrow between the right and left notes and you'll be okay. It's a pretty interesting effect and I understand not everyone will like it but I think it goes with the song relatively well.

AH when I see it like that, it makes much more sense. If I had known that was how you're supposed to read it, I would have completely liked your chart. The effect is definitely achieved from that.

Alright, I have one decided simfile this week but I'd like opinions on what other file I should try to complete for my second file this week

I have...

1. An electro song that goes at 128 BPM and is heavily mine/footswitch influenced a la Spork!'s Wicked Irie (by the way, why is he not in this contest yet? D:)
2. A swing song that goes at 129 BPM that I think would make for very interesting charts
3. A song that goes at 130 BPM that is incredibly risky
4. A french song that I believe goes around 130-150 BPM and would be a nice complement to my already-decided simfile
5. A house Disney song that goes at 125 BPM
6. A chiptune remix of a video game song that goes at 127 BPM

Which one should I do?

Regarding Always Three More Years: I did leave in one double step, acknowledged. Oops.

The mines were to enforce crossovers instead of double steps. If you crossover as expected, the mines should not affect you at all.

I always like chiptunes songs, FWIW.
