Folder selection like World where categories can be combined like "show me all the 14s in SN1/2 and X1-X3" would be really interesting to see in StepMania.The simple selections are all doable though, most of them already exist like level, grade, or genre, you would just need to use preferred sort for the series sort options and have it put all the 1st-5th songs in one category, Max-Extreme in another, and so on. There are many Pump It Up themes that already do this without needing to modify Stepmania. They also allow sectioning by tags in the simfiles. It's quite possible without modifying Stepmania's source code, at least for what World needs. There are more complex things in PIU; just look at projects like StepF2 or Stepprime, or even PumpSanity, which was so good that Andamiro had to intervene to stop it. Haha.
You imply that you can make StepMania song filters in plain Lua without making changes to the engine?
Well if anyone would code a music wheel to be able to sort songs like WORLD actually does, it would be cool
