That's a great idea....if the number of active members was higher.

The chat here is cancer, which is unfortunate, because it's usually the quickest way to get new information. Every time I have jumped into a conversation it was just a bunch of people badmouthing forum goers who don't frequent chat. The best way to avoid the drama is just to avoid it and let the people there have their "fun". As long as it doesn't start seeping into the regular forums everything should be fine.
Believe it or not, I also feel like this ._.

The chat isn't 100% filled with badmouthing and cliques, but sometimes it DOES get rather... I don't know, sometimes I feel like some of the users there forget that this is supposed to be a friendly community.

It was never a friendly community to begin with.
But I suppose that's why you have your cliques so you can feel like there is some of that friendly circlejerking.

Aside from "durr, sows", name me some cliques. And no, "chat frequenters" does not fucking count.

Quoting this so it doesn't get lost:
Maybe this comes from me being an anxious person but I feel like having some indication of unchecks would really go a long way.
"b-but drama!" if people wanna know WHY they've been unchecked they can send a PM. that way it wouldn't become A Big Thing in public

Unchecking wouldn't be so bad if there was any indication at all that someone has unchecked someone else. I know I personally would prefer knowing upfront that person X won't see my messages instead of having to probe for it in the chat.

I can't think of a social media platform that alerts when somebody's blocked you. I can see something like that going to shit hard. You're expecting people to take the whole 'being blocked' thing and improve based on it. And considering the internet's track record you're expecting a LOT.
There's already people that get pissy because their rating goes down by 1.3. How do you expect these people to react when they know who's blocked them?

All I can say to that is that it'd provide us with some quality entertainment.

Twitter does, these days; it won't let you view the profile of someone who has you blocked. The rest of your points are valid. I guess some would take it better than others.

Twitter's sightly different, it'll say that you can't view them, but you don't get notified at the point of when people block you. The only way to know is to actually go to their profile (or when the person is one of those people that actually tells you they're going to block you like that's a big thing).

That's not necessarily the only way to tell; if you try to like or retweet that person when they appear on your timeline it fails.
But I digress.

There's no grand solution to the imaginary problem. If you put people of various age groups and social grouping together in the same chat room, this is what you get. It doesn't help that people get overly snarky or aggressive at times because the monitor is there and there's no repercussions. The chat ain't a safe spot where nobody says negative things, but know where to draw the line and not be an ass; if you're not going to say this stuff to someone in public, then don't say it in the public chat, yeah?
Also, the "just leave chat if you don't like it" idea is not a solution because that doesn't fix things, surely you jest.
