NOTE: Before you love me, keep in mind that I think that themers aren't perfect. It's just they use their talent. Also, before you lecture me with "Oh, you have made a theme. How can you praise them?", you do need to be a 5-star chef to know that a dish is bad, and you do need to be a Hollywood director to know Battlefield Earth is bad.

Most SM5 themes rock!

Firstly, the amount of DDR themes. Look, SM3.9 has a small amount of DDR themes. However, the majority of SM5 themes (at least, what I have seen), expand upon these themes, and not just in a fan-made format (eg. DDR Forever or DDR Supernova 3), but also faithful replications of existing games!

But sometimes, original themes are created. They all have their own noticeable strengths.

Default:
The default theme is a safe space. There is little excess, but I also love the font used is upscaled.

DDR Supernova 3:
DDR Supernova 3 is distinct from DDR replications, and there is a massive amount of effort put in.

UPSRT:
UPSRT is compelling demo to see what can be done with Stepmania 5, which is just a sublime reminder that most themers are using their talent.

Cadmium:
Cadmium is nowhere near complete, but when and if it is complete, no one will take interest due to the fact that it isn't DDR/ITG themed enough, nor is it made by anyone significant enough to gain any attention.

Project XIX: Laconia
Laconia's creator has faded into obscurity, thus not getting enough attention it deserves. Also, there is effort that has been placed in it.

Metro Quad X:
Metro Quad X is an artpiece. I am fully aware the themer wanted to add a large number of information, and did so masterfully. Also, forcing a player to do this setup truly ramps up the intimacy. I'll also admit, the centred song wheel and the banner at the top of said song wheel was a welcome change of convention.

Barebone:
Barebone is, well, a barebone theme that does its job.

Touhou Hisotensoku:
Touhou Hisotensoku is a niche theme for the Touhou fandom. However, the lack of proper 16:9 support is unfortunate.

Simply Love:
Simply Love is a port of an existing theme, but to be honest, is done well.

Sigma: The Blue Dasher:
Sigma: The Blue Dasher is a really well-made theme, though the controls are awkward.

CyberiaStyle LA:
CyberiaStyle LA is, again, a well made theme, with many exclusive features, though it is quite resource-intensive.

Consensual:
Consensual is a superb demo theme for many features that other themers should implement.

Obelisk:
Obelisk is safe and serene. Using a DDR classic songwheel with jackets was very cool.

Every SSC Theme:
Even the SSC cares about its own themes.

So, in conclusion, themers do have a talent in theming, and are showing their full potential.
