I tested this theme with stepmania5 beta 2a(3 has a lot of strange bugs when I'm using it)
I discovered these when I was looking at logs.txt
To the first error,please check line20 and 31 of "02 TextBanner.lua"
Title:strokecolor(color("#000000")
It should be:
Title:strokecolor(color("#000000"))
To the second,03 Gameplay.lua,check line 76:
dance = TapNoteScore_w4", should be dance = "TapNoteScore_w4",
I don't know if these bugs were caused by Zipped file's error?
In Metrics.ini:
SongGroupColor1=color("#99FF66") -DDR 1st
SongGroupColor2=color("#FF6633") -DDR 2nd
SongGroupColor3=color("#FFFF66") -DDR 3rd
SongGroupColor4=color("#CC66FF") -DDR 4th
SongGroupColor5=color("#66CCFF") -DDR 5th
SongGroupColor6=color("#FF9900") -DDR MAX
SongGroupColor7=color("#FF3333") -DDR MAX2
SongGroupColor8=color("#00CC33") -DDR EXTREME
SongGroupColor9=color("#CC0000") -DDR SN
SongGroupColor10=color("#33CCFF") -DDR SN2
SongGroupColor11=color("#FF9933") -DDR X
SongGroupColor12=color("#FF33CC") -DDR X2
SongGroupColor13=color("#3366FF") -DDR X3
SongGroupColor14=color("#33FF99") -DDR 2013
SongGroupColor15=color("#FFFFFF") -NextGen
those -XXX should be --xxx,then it will stop causing errors.
I got a ScreenSelectMusic like this when I was using it:
About the MusicWheel.They are great.But a little small, I think it should be bigger.9 Items viewable is enough.
And they are creating a lot of error messages in logs.txt.
The groove radar was shown when it should be hidden.Yeah it was shown..
Hope HD fonts can be added when released,I'll wait.And is this(no HD fonts)the reason that all the fonts are too small?
Then ScreenGameplay.YEAH those random BG is great!I like them.But....after fixed those little errors,I got this when I was trying to access ScreenGameplay:
01:05.359: //////////////////////////////////////////////////////
01:05.359: Exception: [Lua panic] Expected TapNoteScore; got "TapNoteScore_w4"
01:05.359: //////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Well..................What a bad thing.something was broken?

Thanks for noticing these issues, I built the theme on Stepmania5 beta3 and have never run into any of these problems.
I'll work on testing this with previous versions of Stepmania5 and develop a release in the next day or two.

Well, the theme does look pretty. The scroll wheel is a little skippy for me at times. It doesn't do it often, but sometimes it'll pause for a second and then skip like 2 or 3 songs. The Select Music screen on my end does not show the little graphic for air/stream/etc. but just the difficulties. Edit: Using Beta 3 in Windows 8.1.

I would encourage you not to do this. Previous versions (for example, beta2a) aren't supported by the StepMania developers and won't be. It's better to encourage people to move forward rather than backward.
A TON of stuff was fixed between beta2a and beta3.
Additionally, many fixes and updates have been applied since beta3. You can start using these today with a nightly build!
If you are using Windows, you can download a nightly build.
If you are using Linux, you're probably building your own binary from source anyway.
If you are using OS X, let me know, and I'll host an intermediate build or something (I use OS X, too).
Forward, not backward.

Thanks dbk2, point taken. That saves a fair bit of work.DevinUp have you tried using the codes? (Information in the README file) if so can you explain what happens when you use them?

I can provide an up to date build for anyone using linux on amd64 debian/steamos.On topic: If you don't already know about it, find "%APPDATA%/StepMania 5.0/Logs/log.txt". Check this file whenever you're testing your theme and search for errors. Any problems with the lua code will be reported in there and need to be fixed for your theme to function correctly. Flush the log before checking it by holding F3 and pressing W.

The commit list isn't useful to any non-dev except to hit them with a long list that just says "a lot has changed".I've posted a list on the stepmania.com forums that just lists the function names and stuff that a themer would actually need to care about.

Gotcha. I'll map menuup/down and up/down to different keys and see if that works.
I just tried to open the game with your theme and got these messages:
Lua runtime error: /Themes/DDR Next Generation/Scripts/02 TextBanner.lua:20: ')' expected (to close '(' at line 17) near 'Subtitle'
Lua runtime error: /Themes/DDR Next Generation/Scripts/03 Gameplay.lua:76: unfinished string near '",'
Lua runtime error: /Themes/DDR Next Generation/Scripts/03 ThemeAndGamePrefs.lua:1: unexpected symbol near 'ï'
Lua runtime error parsing "SongManager:ongGroupColor1": [string "SongManager:ongGroupColor1"]:1: malformed number near '1st'
Lua runtime error parsing "SongManager:ongGroupColor2": [string "SongManager:ongGroupColor2"]:1: malformed number near '2nd'
repeat that for all the song groups
Lua runtime error parsing "SongManager:ongGroupColor15": [string "SongManager:ongGroupColor15"]:1: attempt to perform arithmetic on a table value
[string "SongManager:ongGroupColor15"]:1: main((*temporary) = (null),(*temporary) = (null),(*temporary) = attempt to perform arithmetic on a table value)
That said, after those prompts the game opened just fine.
And with menu up and down, I can now see both panels for the songs.

Sorry guys, I've never had problems with MEGA in the past. Would people prefer I upload it to Mediafire or something else?
Mediafire would be a good alternative, I think. I am having trouble with MEGA as well.

As long as he used previous theme since trav's, to gene2008's (which uses strider and holidia's codes and elements too), and both 2 don't know how to remove errors in log file, this theme would not be interesting if you too don't know how to remove them. Just saying.
It's better if he start making a theme from scratch (fallback) and just import only needed codes from others one by one, to minimize the possibility of generating repetitive errors that casual themers sometimes miss.

Due to time constraints, I wasn't able to make the entire theme from scratch though a fair amount of it is coding from scratch.
Meanwhile though I am working on fixing all errors found in the logs file before the final release.

Update in first post.
I'll be releasing the theme either late today or early tomorrow so keep a lookout! Just need to clean up some things first.
