Understepped and Overstepped songs

I don't think DEGRS is quite the be-all end-all of terrible charts that everybody thinks it is. It's not even the dumbest SN2 special, in my opinion, that's AM-3P Chaos Special.

How about we just agree that they all suck shit.
Except for the Stream Special, no idea why people dont like that one.

also, e-motion was a song I always thought they could do a lot more with. There's not a lot to work with, but the charts came off as too simplistic.

D2R Freeze Special is amazing if you do all the spins. It practically forces you to.

While the Air Special might be very blank and way too easy, I think it does do its job.
Freeze Special is pretty OK, but nothing I would play often.
Chaos Special and Voltage Special are awful through.

I agree, but sometimes I think they did this in purpouse (I mean, look at the beatmania/IIDX/pop'n charts for e-motion, they're all quite simple and basically the same).

I think that e-motion was a song that did not sound like it should have been hard. If the chart would have been a 9 with gallops and 16ths and everything, it would sound out of place IMO.

Can't really say about the beatmania and pop'n charts since I don't play them. While the quote above makes sense that e-motion isn't meant to sound hard, the sucky part is that it doesn't even reach 150 combos (with jumps as one combo) and it's still present up to DDR 2013. (Maybe I should check out the doubles chart if it compensates... O_O)

I don't know why they didn't just stick with the Universe chart (and cut; far less boring). I've also always wondered why didn't they have the same people who made Universe 3 charts, make charts for the main series.

Pro-tip: There's no right/wrong opinions, just more/less agreeable ones.

I guess I see what you mean by understepped (within the context of a Groove Radar Special), there could be more done, especially with the end. The step placement is total crap, im sure even an amateur could find a better way to keep the chart flowing with the note layout. On a somewhat related note not having to do with the steps, the speedup at the end was cute, im glad the scroll speed doubles for no real reason.

I really dont like how they made the stepchart (too much unfinished zigzags) of Lucky Vacuum in X3. It needs more Oomph...

Understepped: You got to move it , for me the chart kind of feels empty for a 10.

Haunted Rhapsody (The 16ths didn't need to be there.)
GRADIUSIC CYBER (AMD G5 MIX) Basic (Basic charts shouldn't have crossovers.)
NGO Expert and Challenge (Besides, this song is more for Guitar Freaks and Drum Mania.)
FLOWER Challenge (The last 45 seconds or so of this chart just confuses me.)
Daikenkai Challenge (Honestly, this chart as a whole is unnecessary.)
INFINITE PRAYER Challenge (The opening stream is too big.)
THEME FROM ENTER THE DRAGON (notorious mix) (Truthfully, everything except the last 9 notes are overstepped.)
VOL. 4 Challenge (The Expert chart is probably 1 of my favorites from 3rd Mix. Why create a harder, badly-steeped chart for 4th Mix Plus?)

The only "Every Time We Touch" in my mind is the Universe one. The AC version can DiaF.

As for people complaining about e-motion, there is always the Ultramix "romantic style" remix...



PS: This is the officially the shortest song in the game at 1:06. Also, I would not rate this song a 12. It is a 13.

If I remember right, X-Specials weren't under- or overstepped; they just suffered from horrendous patternwork instead. SMM-Specials were okay too, and served their purpose nicely: SP-TM as a fun alternative to CHAOS/Pluto, and PARA MAX as a challenging alternative to Pluto Relinquish (in Japan's DDR X), and the "PARANOiA chart of PARANOiA charts" (before PARANOiA Revolution)...

That said... I DO agree that all of the Groove Radar Special charts were just badly designed. I think AM-3P's is the best of the bunch, only hampered by that jump-step-jump 1/16 drill. B4U's is acceptable once you get it, except that one... "smear" of arrows about 20 seconds before the end. You know the one I'm talking about... the messy 1/16 jackhammer-sequence thing. The rest of the chart is fine.

What I'd like to know is... what sick fudgesucker decided to associate those with a Challenge Mode course?! >.< Just. EWW. Even Boss Rush SN2 is fairly concievable with a normal lifebar, rather than the Challenge/Battery one.

THERE WE GO. SuperNOVA and SN2's COURSES. Where the heck is the good/fun difficulty range with THOSE?!

best X-Special for me is TLOM and the worst is MAXX Unlimited. MAXX Unlimited is kinda overstepped actually

A lot of the MAX songs could have just been low-high 9s on the old scale if they didnt have fake difficulty (double bpm/unnecessary 8ths notes going to nothing for the sake of stream)
