Does anyone else here suddenly feel very proud of every marvelous attack they've ever had? I am.
Okay Aaron, you're reaching a point of fantastic interest for me:
In my edit edit, I meant on newer mixes. I thought that each arrow, on say X2, held the same value at all judgments. I knew, already, that Extreme, etc used a different system. Does that system still exist in X2 so that getting a 1 great and the rest Marvelous can result in different scores due to the location of that great?
Secondly, could you explain the relation of the number of perfects/arrows/etc for attaining certain scores? If it is a binary relation, is it possible to explain that relationship, or would it be obvious given any basic knowledge of binary? What about greats? (The only standard deviation seems to be goods and marvelous which is 0 and Perfect+10 respectively, correct?)

The SN2/X scoring system in normal mode is the following:
An arrow's maximum value is 1,000,000 / (total number of steps and freezes in the song).
Marvelouses and O.K.s are worth the maximum value.
Perfects are worth the maximum minus 10.
Greats are worth half the maximum, then minus 10. (Note that Greats are worth less than half a perfect.)
Goods, Almosts, Misses, and N.G.s are worth 0.
So for example, say a song had 500 steps and 0 freeze arrows.
Marvelous = 2,000 pts
Perfect = 1,990 pts
Great = 990 pts
Good/Almost/Miss = 0 pts
So getting all Marvelouses and 1 Great would be a final score of 998,990. The same score could be achieved with 399 Marvelouses and 101 Perfects.
Note that if a song does not have an even number of steps+freezes (and almost none do), then obviously Greats/Perfects/Marvelouses will be worth a non-integer number of points. The game will remember the fractional part, but will only display the score rounded down to the nearest multiple of 10. So a "current score" of 314,159.265 would be displayed on screen as 314,150.

That's what I thought, but it appears that Aaron's view contradicts this one? Or is Aaron speaking to a different game? I actually thought that your scenario was correct. >.>

No, my view is the same. The scoring system was different for older mixes but the limitations then do not reflect the situation now. Did I misread something... (Oh, it seems so)
Edit> Check my post. Yesterday in my rush I didn't notice the word "different" in your first sentence. That changes the whole scope. Of course in later mixes the position in the song doesn't affect the score you get per step.
/me embarrassed, especially after having a scoring system explanation page for many years (updated with each mix)

Oh hey, update!
All right, I a crack at the eBook format for my book. I have EPUB and MOBI formats now but with both, the page numbering is all screwed up in the TOC and for some reason the first Chapter in the MOBI format isn't set to the top of the page (weird)...
Take a gander if you dare...

I can put it on Amazon as well as the "digital download" if I can get this mess sorted out. Working with eBook formats is a bit of a headache, though.

I got my copy in the mail yesterday!
Sorry I would have posted sooner but a dead car and managing people at work kept me busy for a while.
It feels so good to have a physical hard copy of my work in print. And thank you for the personal inscription, Aaron. That was nice. :3

No problem. I'm glad it got to you.
Also, I hope that not just for the enjoyment of holding something you had a part in making, you actually have something you can pull out of your portfolio when applying for a job/project
If you are interested, the Spanish translation is coming along nicely and I think the book cover might need some Spanish text loving (If I can provide you with the text, could you swap out the English text (particularly on the back cover) with that?
I believe the title will be "Contando Combos" but I'd have to ask Matt about regenerating the Title with that text.
(In any case, the translation is still underway so there is no immediate rush anyway)

I know what you mean. Its now part of my portfolio and this is the first print project that's credited my name and designer identity so I'm really thankful to you for it.
I'd be more than happy to adjust the text for the Spanish version. Feel free to message me whenever you are ready.
