Am I the only one who didn't have a TERRIBLE problem in Extreme's mission mode? The only one that seriously shook me up that I started freaking out was the Wild Rush one (I think #96, where you clear with 0 points) and that one took me around 300 tries. The others took a maximum of around 50.

^^I did have a problem with a couple of missions in EXTREME. For the most part it was 96-98 (WILD RUSH
, Y.M.C.A., and especially *shivers* Frozen Ray).
As for HMM: I can confirm that L is as far as it goes (for both Singles and Doubles) on SN2 NA.
I did get full meter (which I guess they call "Perfect Clear") on every song plus the hyper scores over 1M across the board. Some of which were earlier today (Arrabbiata D-
never again!)
Singles:

Doubles:

Sorry if the quality isn't great.

Full Combo a section of Frozen Ray
. Not bad, not bad. Add Flip. Add random speed-ups and slow-downs.
Dead.

Dead.

You could've just switched the timing up in the options, which made it really easy to get Goods.Post #44 · Posted at 2012-08-03 12:48:50pm 12.9 years ago

The hardest missions in Hyper master mode are the fake doubles ones, the last couple L missions, and I-6. Also, Dice Master Mode. Discuss.

"I'm honestly pissed off." |
SN1 CS had its share of mean ones at the end.
Hidden Trial 9 - Turn on "SCROLL (REVERSE)" and "SPEED (x1.5)" only in
Options and complete Fascination MAXX. (CHA, OK)
Hidden Trial 10 - Get a full combo on CHAOS. (CHA, NG)
Drill PB-EX3:
Song: Xepher
Diff: CHA
Options: Tiny Arrow
Challenge: Pass this drill. You've had this before, only now it's on
Challenge instead of Expert, AND the video is now playing, further obscuring
your vision.
Drill PB-EX5:
Song: Baile Le Samba
Diff: EXP
Options: x8, Boost, Dark
Challenge: Get 120 MARVELOUS steps in this drill. Well, what to say about
this one, eh?
Drill PB-DEX7:
Song: Fascination -eternal love mix-
Diff: CHA
Options: x1.5, Reverse, Boost
Challenge: Pass this drill. The hardest chart in existence, in a somewhat
extra stage mode. Good luck.
Drill PB-DEX8:
Song: CHAOS
Diff: EXP
Options: x1.5, Reverse
Challenge: Get a full combo on this drill.
Anyway, I think Konami's intent is to give players challenges that will require years of practice and repeated attempts to pass. Which I'm completely okay with. There's a sort of emptiness after you've done everything in a game. In addition, working towards passing the challenges gives you motivation to practice enough to become a more skilled player.

"era {nostril mix}" |
Spent the last hour or so watching somebody on YouTube play through every EXTREME mission and.. yeah it does get brutal!
On SN I'm up to The Last but when I saw it was just all the bosses I decided to take a break due to me being fatigued from every other stellar joint and all the VIP cards that same day aha, I think I can knock it out next time I load up SN though! The task that tripped me up the most was one that required x5 and Boost on I think it was 3 songs, when only 1 song in the stellar joints' set was under 150bpm, very very tough!

If you want to cheat at the SN1 mission mode tasks that require mods, you can have two players playing, and only set the mods for one player.

Almost every mission mode has some sadistic mission.
EXTREME - There's a ton, but one other to mention:
B4U Mission 39: All I can say is "darn you, muscle memory!"
SuperNOVA - The x character in a row missions. That's just dumb luck
SuperNOVA 2 - The Every Day Every Night mission. I had to sync a youtube video up to the game to play it.
X2 - Haven't played it, but MFC? LOL NOPE

I believe you can just fail the song if you get a character you don't want. Not entirely sure though. Personally, I found the "Get a score ending in XXX" trials to be much harder.

FYI On the Break and on the bounce unlocked via Gus' storyline so that's 2 down!
I wish the songs in SN had a default character that had a higher chance of appearing on that particular song, eg you might have significantly more luck getting Disco or any male character on say, Do You Want To. Then it might've been kinda fun to plan out ways to draw characters out, but complete random sucks.

PIZZA BOX in SN had a lot of REALLY tedious missions. Like, "Get >8.5 million points on every song in the game!"

1.5x Reverse FaXX (Pizza Bix) is the ONLY THING I have yet to complete in SN. Besides the "AA everything" one, and that's the only song I'm missing it for. Just. Not. Quite. Worthit.
Also, I said screw Dice Master. There's still Basic level missions, and between trying to navigate the characters, and level-locking the other missions? Just... screw it.

I didn't even bother completing all the Pizza Box missions. I finished all the showdowns there and I was just like "After 4 years of being stuck at TheLast, I'm done." Plus after I unlocked Pizza Box, I had this feeling inside me of "Now what?"
Dice Master Mode is messed up. The trick I figured out to beat it was to focus on getting Disco and Queen-Zukin both to level 10 and then have everyone including those two stand on the DEGRS spot and play that song repeatedly until they all got to level 10. I even got better at playing that song and getting my score up to a B after doing it over and over.
Street Master Mode and Dance Master Mode were meh. I never did get the last trophy on Dance Master Mode actually.
Mission Mode was messed up. I never finished either sides of it because I'm awful at gimmicks.
And... I've unlocked one of the bonus areas on Hyper Master Mode, but I don't have enough points or whatever those rectangle bar things are to unlock Area L(I think that's what it is). I passed the Trip Machine trial though.

Finished Street Master Mode this evening, did all of Disco's story in one marathon run aha, left me battered and bruised but I felt accomplished! Didn't expect to get the Pluto Relinquish challenge done first try aha. Now to get my little sister and the friends I'm coaching to play the basic level missions for the alternative outfits! Not that I actually care but still!

So out of curiosity Nightime, what does Area K look like for your game, points and all. I have everything passed in K except Everyday Everynight stairway, but I've heard you need a certain amount of yellow bars to unlock Area L.

I hate, HATE the Frozen Ray Mission 98. The targets are all swapped, Dark is on, the song speeds up, scrolls in reverse, and you only get one try. I failed 178 times and haven't gone back.

Another difficult mission i'd like to mention is 97, the Wild Rush Nonstop Megamix get all Goods or lower and still pass. There's a trick to that I found out after failing the first time. Just put your TV on mute and rely purely on visuals; because if you listen to the beat, chances are you'll end up getting a Great or higher. And try to line up each note 1/8th step below the target. (or was it a 1/16th below the target?) So basically shift the beat to 1/8 step later than the actual beat.

Finally got X2 PS2 yesterday. I must say, progress is very slow. I've only unlocked one song (What Will Come of Me) and one skin (Rage) in the DMM. How long does it take to start getting flood unlocks? I've been playing about 2-3 hours.

Here's an EXTREMELY helpful Youtube video I found on Extreme's Mission Mode:
One thing it doesn't mention is the trick I used to clear Mission 98: Turn your physical pad around 180 degrees, and step according to the position of each arrow, instead of its direction. This basically negates Flip, the hardest of the mods, leaving the quite a bit easier Dark Reverse Haste Sudden-Death.
