Am I the only person who doesn't "get" why The Twist is so brilliant? imo the chart is "okay" but that song is a total turn-off. That guy's voice is horrible.

I actually had to do some research to figure out who it was that's actually singing in that song. Would it surprise you to know that it's the singer of the original version of The Twist? His name is Hank Ballard, he wrote The Twist and contributed the vocals for the Chubby Checker recording. The version that appears on DDR is the Double Pump Mix from Dancemania Bass #8. It seems that all the Liberty All Staz did was write and sing the rap verse and mix it with the original recording. Hank was also responsible for a number of other songs and was connected to a few different groups.

So yeah, that horrible voice you hear is a 50s rock icon.

Oh wow. I had no idea. Although I'm still not exactly a fan. My head's still thinking it's a guy doing a bad cover, even if it isn't. Oh well.

It's funny, cause the more I look into it the more it seems that Hank put the song on the charts but after that most all the public performances were sung by Chubby himself. YouTube does have Hank's version though. Maybe others came to the same conclusion as you?

The rap part of the song is most of the fun. Ever try cross-sliding that shit? Or doing the unintuitive-direction spins on the 1-2-x-1-2's? It's SO FUN!!

It will never happen. Sony requires that the company of the game, in this case, Konami, to have all rights to every single aspect of the game before putting it up as a PSN classic to avoid any legal problems. This is why we don't have Tomba or the other Wipeout games up on the PSN. In Tomba's case, Whoopee Camp is no longer an existing company, and Liverpool Studios won't release a Wipeout game with a partial soundtrack.

Konami would have to relicense the DDR5th mix songlist for it to happen.
