Prior to playing DDR I was a Soul Calibur player. When I first saw people play DDR, back then it looked as though as if they were having spasms. "That looks embarrasing..." I thought.
This was watching people play single. Going down to Wellington in January 2001 my cousin showed me someone who was playing double - it piqued my interest somewhat, but not quite.
I played DDR casually from April 2001, hiding in remote arcades because I was too shy to play in front of crowds.
Fast forward it to February 2002 - I was going downstairs to the local arcade to play some games until I saw someone else play double again, only this time he was spinning and FCing it at the same time. As a scrub it was awe-inspiring to watch (sorry for sounding like a brown-nose Tom
). HVAM sounded like a really cool song to play back then, so it was my goal that I would beat this song on double.
Timezone on Queens would eventually become my second home and stomping ground. I am now 31 (with one child) and still play this game once a week.

First time playing: Anti-smoking thing at a Boy's and Girl's Club in 2001
I started playing Bemani games because of Drum Mania 3rdMIX in 2002-2003
I started playing DDR because my computer teacher started bringing in his PS2 during my
junior year of high school. I've been playing since then basically. From 2007 to present.

You know, that's a funny thing you said there Domino...
My cheapskate high school would NEVER have allowed it!

oh well, lucky you.

I had this dream that i would be playing DDR in the school's cafeteria, and everyone would be watching me. I would have never thought this could have ever been done because...well, it's high school and no one would want to put DDR inside a cafeteria and watch you play, THAT'S PREPOSTEROUS.
Well with the help of friends, connections, LOTS OF RUNNING AND HARD WORK AND STUFF, I successfully planted a DDR Club at my high school.
We did a fundraiser in our school's cafeteria, yes i played, and yes, the crowd watched. Dream = True

So the morale of the story here Domino is to never think you can't do something unless you actually go for it and see where it goes...
....but really, i think the true morale is why in the hell did i do a DDR fundraiser inside the school's CAFETERIA

Well, unless Margo freestyled and AAA'd something, I would have probably voted for the chick who danced for real...

Hmm, how I got into DDR....
I was at a big arcade and there was a guy pwning at freestyle. I thought the game looked cool so I decided to try it. He let me have his last song, nice guy he was. I played (and, IIRC, passed) Cartoon Heroes Speedy Mix on Beginner. Since then, I was hooked. The following year I got SN1 CS as a Christmas present, and in a few months I was playing Expert.
