I think that's just down to personal choice. I don't think songs should start with steps or musical sections that deviate greatly from the rest of the song. If you've got 2 minutes worth of music, I think most people would rather play 2 minutes of the song, than listen to 15 seconds of intro, 15 seconds of outro, and then play 90 seconds of song inbetween. That leaves players standing around, waiting for the song to get going , and then waiting for it to end.
If there's going to be 30 seconds where the song deviates from it's norm, then I'd rather it be in the middle of the song, so that the step artist can try and do something cool, to mix-up the song a bit, before it goes back to normal. I think that's more interesting than having the player listen to (or "play") the full opening and outro.
The cut I just did goes :
01-08 : Lead-in (8)
08-16 : Verse 1 (8)
16-28 : Chorus 1 (12)
28-36 : Breakdown (8)
36-48 : Verse 2 (12)
48-60: Chorus 3 (12)
60-64: Lead-out (4)
It cuts out the intro, cuts 4 bars out of the first chorus, cuts the second chorus entirely, cuts the 3rd verse, cuts 4 bars out of the finalchorus and 12 bars out of the lead-out.
I think it kept all the interesting bits, and besides the 15 seconds of lead-in, gives you 1:45 of the song, without any downtime. The choruses both had bars cut out of them because they seemed a bit reperitive. I think most players would rather play 2 shorter choruses near the start and the end of the song, than play 1 long chorus that repeats parts of itself? You're still playing the same part of the chorus twice, but it's spread out to make it more interesting, rather than playing it twice back to back.
I'm just offering it to you. I had no idea you'd already cut it yourself ^^;
A lot of people find cutting music down to DDR length to be awkward, so if I can think of an interesting way to do a song that someone is requesting, I try and quickly come up with something I can offer them, to save the trouble ^^;
Now I'm cutting songs I want other people to step, rather than working on my Round 3 tournament simfile :{

Okay. Well I will consider making steps for that audio and making steps for mine and see which works out better. I appreciate the help.

So is there a specific date that this kicks off or a song list is decided?
