DJ Hero was nice, even if I didn't care for every track there were still quite a few that I could listen to over and over again, plus the gameplay was great in every aspect. Guitar hero was cool, but it was starting to go stale IMO. Oh Activision, why do you feel the need to kill off anything that suddenly takes a dip in sales?

Also, DJ Hero had potential because it was new, fresh and different. For Guitar Hero, the only thing Activision brought to the table of any significance was the drumkit in World Tour.
DJ Hero 2 was much the same as DJ Hero, but with a much much better songlist and career mode (From what I know)
My point is, because they didn't change the gameplay and didn't make things new and exciting, those franchises very quickly grew stale. Same with anything really - Guitar Hero 3 in my books was the last decent Guitar Hero game. And for dance games - ITG2.

I hated both DJ Hero games, but they've obviously labours of love, have a fuckton of effort and polish put into them, I'm glad they both exist.

Er, exactly how many Guitar Hero fans own stock in Activision Blizzard? Stocks are going down because by killing off Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, they are essentially admitting to investors that two of their flagships series are not making money anymore and that they really don't have anything to replace them at the moment. It also doesn't help that their quarterly earnings, released the same day as the announcement, showed a net loss for the company.

I said "mostly" idiotic. From the very first game, all I've seen from this game is a bunch of guys who swear that they are god-like at the game and think it translates into actual guitar-playing skill. God-forbid, there's a IIDX or DJ MAX remotely close to a GH machine. The bros won't let you live it down without a 5-on-1 brawl or you playing the game and trashing them at with them trying to mess you up while you do it.
Note: if you choose the first option, the guitar controller makes a great weapon of bro destruction.

i've never once seen anyone who thought that.
everyone that doesnt like guitar hero SAYS people act that way, which is just bull shit. i actually joke about it when people find out i play guitar hero and ask me if i play guitar, i respond "why the fuck would i want to play a real guitar? that shits stupid".
the only ones who act like they can actually play their instrument are drummers, and in guitar hero or on rock band pro drums you can actually take the notes and play it on a real drum kit if you know what each pad is supposed to be. my brother learned how to play a lot of songs that way.
