I wish I could compete in the competition, but I'm only 11.

I'm also an expert. Sad

I like how they didn't include Supernova 2 in that list of "systems" it will be held on.If it's held on an Extreme machine, the scoring will be whacked since it has progressive scoring. I do like that they limit the entries to 160 per qualifier and they allow you to appeal a score.

Didn't they also narrow the perfect window a bit between Extreme and Supernova?

This is true. But I still think that if Konami really wanted to redeem itself from this X fiasco, they should find available X machines that have the pad fixes and screen lag fix and hold the tournaments on those in order to promote the new game. Then on the day of the final event, release unlock codes that makes some of the hidden X songs playable for the last tourney. I think it would be a neat surprise and make the tourney finale much more interesting. But alas, we're stuck whoring 15 songs. Hopefully they can spice it up some how next year like maybe team divisions or having a course-division.

I agree that that would make the tournament a lot better.
However, I would like to say that in my view, the fact that only one of the locations for the tournaments has an SN2 machine shows that the SN2 release was also something of a flop, since (as I understand) there were upgrade kits for SN2. So SN stands as the only truely successful US AC release that I know of, as far as spread of cabinets is concerned.

Really? You're gonna bring ITG into this?
It'd be interesting to see a kids division, but that will probably wait until seeing how popular this tournament is.
Play my game Arcana Seal of Rimsala (SNES)!

KONAMI DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fans Of Best-Selling Dance Franchise Will Flock to GameWorks Arcades Across the Country to Compete in the First Official Nationwide DanceDanceRevolution Tournament

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - September 24 - 2009 - Time to put on those dancing shoes and let the search for the ultimate dancer in the United States begin - DanceDanceRevolution style. Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., today announced the launch of the official 2009 DanceDanceRevolution U.S. Championships. Beginning September 26, the first-ever national DanceDanceRevolution competition will bring together the greatest DanceDanceRevolution players from around the country to compete in seven different regional tournaments all over the United States. All this action will culminate when the top dancers in each region will advance to the National Finals in Las Vegas on December 5th, 2009 where the number one DanceDanceRevolution player will be crowned.

"For years, DanceDanceRevolution has evolved from an arcade game into a pop culture icon. Millions of versions of the game have been sold, fan clubs have been formed, and the people who count themselves as members of the DanceDanceRevolution community continue to grow exponentially each year," said David Daniels, Director of Marketing at Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "With such a large following and so many great players all across the country, the time is right to host an official competition that will appeal to both old and new DanceDanceRevolution enthusiasts as we look to find who is truly the ultimate."

The DanceDanceRevolution U.S. Championships will take place inside local GameWorks arcades in each region. Such a grand scale will put DanceDanceRevolution players up to the ultimate test as they compete against each other on the ever-popular arcade unit - DanceDanceRevolution Super Nova. Up to 160 elite DanceDanceRevolution players will compete in the full day competition. The top performer in each region, based on the highest number of points, will advance to the National Finals and a chance to win a $1000 Best Buy gift card and other prizes - as well as the title of top DanceDanceRevolution player in the country. Additionally, all competitors will receive a $10 coupon to Best Buy when they show up at the event at GameWork locations. For information on how to register to compete, people should go to http://www.konami.com/ddruschamps/ .

The date/location for the DanceDanceRevolution U.S. Championships regionals are as follows (Date of events is subject to change):

September 26 - Dallas, Texas
October 2 - Miami, Florida
October 11 - Columbus, Ohio
October 17 - New York, NY
October 24 - Minneapolis, Minnesota
November 7 - Las Vegas, Nevada
November 14 - Seattle, Washington
December 5 - Las Vegas, Nevada (National Finals)

But the dancing doesn't stop at GameWorks. Dance fans will be able to enjoy all the music and motion of DanceDanceRevolution this fall as new console editions of the best selling game hit stores nationwide. DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 3 for Wii and DanceDanceRevolution X2 on PLAYSTATION 2 will be available in October. I almost started to consider seriously going, but I noticed Columbus's tourney is being held on a Sunday (seriously?) and is 6 hours away. I don't feel like getting up at 4 in the morning, driving 6 hours then trying to compete and driving back in the same day. Miami's worse at 13 hours away. bleh.

My song choce, level, and speed mods have been sent XP hopefully this tournament is better run than the first one I was in.
