... I don't have one legal song on my computer. Someone should explode the RIAA. Mad
Aside from a few CD's my cousins copied to my computer, neither do I. Blushing

Not that I worry. They can't enforce this. Surprised

If this works by tracking torrents then I think I'm in the clear as I don;t use torrents or limewire or any other downloading programs.

If they don't track websites, then I'll in the clear as long as ffshrine doesn't get caught (if the site comes back up)

How can they prove that the MP3s that exist on one's computer were copied in the first place? After all one can rip CDs into MP3 with ease, and even then some people throw away their CDs or sell them on. The US Government doesn't have a leg to stand on really.

That's one point of the people who oppose this law. The law was made with a complete ignorance of the technology and common actions that it affects.

Correct.

It's about on the same level as the famous "the internet is a series of tubes".

I propose that the first computers we search for illegal mp3s be the computers that the congressmen who voted for this act (along with their children's computers) use.

Oh boy. You know, Technology + Government Intervention normally = OH SHIZNAP! One would think that this would fail from the beginning. I don't sense a foreseeable change in filesharing anytime soon.

Also, I do kind of blame congress for this one, although I am surprised Bush signed it into law. Maybe there was some fine print.
